Post by pointbob »

such a newb, but which drive belt for my 2006 AWD vibe? I'm trying to buy one off ebay and there's so many to choose...

Is there really much difference in quality ~ some are $20 and some are $50.

And does the fact that i'm an "awd" make a difference in sizing the belt?

thanks.

help.

AWD should not make a difference on a serpentine drive belt, but it does matter for some items. I looked on http://www.autozone.com and they list a 5060725 part number for both AWD and FWD 2006 Vibes. That is a 72-1/2" long belt due to the 725 in the part number. I've always just used a basic inexpensive belt on my cars since they are not too hard to replace. I would buy maybe not the cheapest, but I certainly would not spend more than $25 for one. These serpentine belts can last for 5+ years.

I bought the cheap belt for my (not AWD) and it has been fine for the last 10k. I talked to the guy behind the counter and asked the difference...he said they were both made by the same manufacture (Gate in my case) it was just that the more expensive one had a longer warranty...I think it was 1 yr vs 3 yrs.
