Cabin Air Filter

Post by 09vGT »

Just curious. Does the air travel through the cabin air filter even when one has the mode switched to fresh air, not just recirculation mode? In an example, am I safe driving through a cloud of dust on a windy day with fresh air coming through the car or should I turn on recirculation? Thanks!

I would think it would be the other way around. I'd expect fresh air to always go through the cabin air filter. Seeing pics of peoples' filters with leaves and other external debris, I'd say the main purpose of the thing is to filter the fresh air coming in. I am just not sure if the air goes through the filter when in recirc.

Yes, the air goes through this filter regardless of which mode, fresh, recirc, defrost, heat, cold, etc. It is just over the blowermotor itself so any air coming in to the cabin must pass through this filter, so you are safe to leave it in any mode :D
