HELP! Wiring Issues

Post by walshy716 »

Hey therewas painting my interior and taking the dash apart a bit and in the process of taking everything apart my wires to the cigarette lighter came loose. I reattached them but they were very short but managed to get them attached. Then i had everything back in and started up my car and my radio didnt work. I figured I blew a fuse so i checked what was under the radios fuse. Cigarette Lighter, Radio and power mirrors. None of which are working. Changed the fuse and made sure all wires were securely attached and tried again.. still nothing.Im slightly stumped and wonder if anyone has ideas of what to try next will have to wait till daylight tomorrow however. Thanks

Welcome to this great site It sounds like you somehow separated a connector under the dash when pulling the panels off for painting. You now will need to reverse your EVERY move and carefully pay attention to all connectors. Since no fuses were blown (assuming you really checked them all out properly) then it must be a connector somewhere. Also, as you showed us here at GenVibe in another post, I love your color scheme (yellow calipers will look awesome against a Black Vibe) and leave the rims as they are like other members suggested. Good luck finding the electrical issue

So i took a look at it again this morning and made sure all the connectors were in tight and everything was connected well. I double checked the fuse and even bought a brand new one. i did notice tho that my deck (aftermarket) would display the time if i press the display button and it will also eject the cd, but not load a new one. So there is some power getting to it :S im lost on this one

seems mosst likely you blew the CIG fuse, which is in the under dash fuse block (not the one under the hood) Is that the fuse you replaced? What year vibe is this for?Is there any other electrical thing that doesn't work anymore?

thanks everyone who helped i got the problem fixed. I again did a once over of all the possible fuses and changed them around a bit. Also once again tightened all connectors and it magically worked. So I'm not really sure what the problem was but I'm glad its finally fixed! Again thanks to everyone for their help!- Now that dash is back together i'll be sure to get some pictures of the new colors up
