John Lennon, 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980

Post by 06pvibe »

I remember where I was that day, early in the morning when the news came on the radio. I was 23yrs old and turning wrenches for a living. I hadn't heard the news the night before, and neither had my coworkers. John, You were a human being and a man, with all the flaws that come with it, you were a very creative dreamer and yes, a bit of a nut too. The world needs many more like you, today more than ever before.R.I.P. John.http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/--50874981

Dime Bag? ('Bet you're surprised I knew that.)I wasn't aware of that fact. But then again, I doubt he had as much impact or as many "good intentions" as John Lennon did.

He was a really good musician. That's about where I stop the envy though, he remind me too much of today's celebrity activists/politicians. They don't make the best of the latter.

I think of John more as a poet and song writer. I think his actual musical skills were limited. As far a activism is concerned, one man can only do what one man can do. At least her tried, if not in some weird and unusual ways. Because they were unusual they did garner media attention in their day. And he did say that he didn't mind being the clown if that's what it took. That's more than I can say for 90% of our celebrities today.Politicians are another discussion entirely and I don't want to get into that here.

On WFAN they played the Monday Night Football broadcast where they announced his death. Pretty cool.

Whelan,Sad that can you judge him when you weren't even born when he died. Just because you may not like his stands? Weak.
