I didnt expect to see many sti's around here, being that they are about $30,000. and most subie owners up here are earth muffins and rather spend their $$$ on their dog teams and such...BUT..i've seen 3 of these suckers in town, all bought within the last month..no evo's yet..i have even seen a matrix with what looks like a plow attachment frame on it...no kidding...it looked like the front bumper was modified and had two struts mounted (?) somewhere underneath to support this 3' to 4' piece of angle iron up front..weird...maybe they train their dog teams with it
i just drove by the dealership and say a nice red evo sitting on the lot. saw a rally blue sti last week and i almost went off the road staring at it. ooohh..... so pretty.
i'm not really impressed with the wings on those things, though...look like they dont belong...but when you see them coming they really are neat though!
i think that you are refering to is a towing rig for pulling the car behind a RV i doubt that anyone would be dumb enough to try and plow with a matrx (or any other car for that matter)

It funny you mention this today because I just got back from a house-warming party and I found out a friend of mine just got one yesterday. He and his wife are expecting their first child so he traded in his Honda S2000 on an STi. Let me tell you, that thing is scary fast. I'm seriously worried about racing one with the Nova. It would be a close race.
nope! i know what car dingy attachments look like and this isnt it...this is home made and honest to god looks like a plow attachment w/o pumps ( and yes i know what plow frames look like since we own two plow systems for our trucks) and ,nova, i seen one of those subie sti's accerlate down our main drag here earlier this week and it is real quick, makes an awesome sound too! no wheelspin, just pure speed! insurance must be a killer though!!
yeah, i stopped in about 2 wks ago to the Fbx dealership. they didn't have any sti's. too bad. said they've sold 3 so far and have another 2 or 3 more coming. waiting list in lower 48 is 4-6 months long. sd they can get them within 1 and a half months due to their volume of sales there. small dealership, but tons of turn around/sales. i'm sure that has everything to do with location. afterall, subies are a staple in most Alaskans' lives.
One guy has an sti in our apartment building. It is a nice car.The only thing what I don't like is the huge scoop.I know,I know it's not just for decoration
quote:i'm not really impressed with the wings on those things, though...look like they dont belong...I know what you mean! My buddy just traded his '01 Wrx in for an STi. I told him he shoud have got it in red, because it looks like the Red Baron's Fokker tri-plane. BTW, they list for $46,000 in Canada...
Looks like a neat little car. It is supposed to be around 300 foot-pound of torque at 4k and has 14.5 lbs of boost. That kind of torque in a little car should be fun. We need someone to drop an LS6 in Vibe
we need some of the homeland engines dropped in the vib w/their upgraded awd systems...hopefully that day will come, in the meantime though, all we have is the s/c for the base.
The Subie dealer here has quite a few on the lot. Two or three of them are the Rally Blue. If I didn't love my Vibe so much and was in the market for a new car I'd probably be driving one right now. I think it's sharp!
I know I got a call from the salesman I bought my 99 RS and 02 WRX from the other day saying they had a silver sti (w/ gold wheels yik) if I was interested. I bet they are uping the no. of sti's they are shipping. Thats what happened w/ the first wrx's. They allocated 12,000 cars but pre-orders almost accounted for all of them so......the imported 18,000 or so the first year. Two "scoobie" items I find intereting are:1.) the baja and forster turbos are a de-tuned sti engine (e.g. not to darn difficult to make them produce 300hp)2.) there have been alot of sti folks *****ing about detonantion! blaming everything form piston design to the ECU, and timing.NEVER BUY THE FIRST YEAR FOR A NEW POWERPLANT hehehe my 2.0 worked flawlessly (even mod'ed). but the car/engine (ej-20) had been out in japan and europe for a year.
i like the the evo design better! but in regards to the ls6 in a vib...man, wouldnt that warp a frame or two, lol! i was thinking of some of japans hipo engines that we DONT see on this side of the pacific which could be dropped in...i have nothing against subies just want to see something different on the roads up here...i'm getting subied out....overkill...i think alaska has the highest ratio of subies per drivers of all the states, seriously!
