We never met her so I can only guess she was probably elderly.I don't know why she steered towards our house, and considering the distance traveled on the lawn, she must have been going pretty fast for her not to be able to figure out she was on the wrong pedal. Most collisions with buildings I've seen are somewhat in a path accessable to a road. This one was one of the more bizarre ones.

Crashing through peoples houses are mostly going to be near-100 year olds...men AND women who stomp on the gas instead of the brake. It happens WAY more than you think. The one that bent the frame on my Firebird with her brand-new-without-plates yet Corolla didn't even own a cel phone. Two months before plowing (yes, that's the word I use...she hit me so hard I thought I got hit by a semi or bus) into me in my 'Bird, she hit a parked car the same exact way. I honestly fear for the safety of every motorcyclist, bicyclist, pedestrian, driver, even children playing in their own yards aren't safe because of people like this. We have had them crashing through a nightclub, supermarkets, banks, and driving onto a sidewalk, killing a person who was doing repairs on it.Off the soapbox now...back to the regular scheduled program

Its one of my BIGGEST pet-peeves about being on the roads these days. I swear, talking on the phone and especially texting is more dangerous that drunk driving and you can't blame alcohol for dulling your sense of reality either. Now, who doesn't talk on the phone while driving? I'll proudly say, I don't.First of all, try shifting a 5-sp in city traffic and tell me true that you can still talk on the phone?Try asking the person on the other end to wait while you shift through the gears.Conversing w/a passenger while driving is dangerous enough. But talking while on a cell phone under ANY circumstances is dangerous and damned stupid if you ask me.I'll apologize in advance to those regular talkers that I offended here, but I will not change my view on the subject.

To me, my cell is a necessary evil, that being said I am very judicious on giving out my number so I probably only receive about 5 calls a week while I'm driving.I've found that a Bluetooth hands free speaker for my phone such as the Jabra SP700 works great, and anyone I talk to usually is OK to wait while I make important driving decisions.
