I bought a rostra precision controls aftermarket cruise control for my vibe and I have to identify wires at the ECM. Does anyone know how to identify which plug-ins are which and pin numbers for each colored wire. To identify the tach signal wire the give ECM connector (E5), pin #17 Viotet/white wire. There are four plug ins on the ECM with a bunch of wires in each. I can't see any numbers on the wires or the ECM. If anyone can help me with this it would be appreciated. Thanks
Welcome to genvibe!I looked in my service manual, and at my vibe, and at your post, and this is what I figured out. I took out my glove compartment, and looking down at it, there are four connectors. The connector with the Violet/white wire is second from the left (numbering the connectors starting with the drivers side as 1, it would be #2) The connectors are actually upside down, and pin one is on the drivers side in the bottom row.( Bottom row being the row closest to the floor when connected) Pin 17 is on the drivers side of that connector, and looking down through the glove compartment, it's in the second row down, on the left side of the connector. On my Vibe it was the only purple wire, and had a thin white stripe, which matches your description. However, the service manual calls this wire "Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Input" There is another wire that is the "Engine Speed Output", or Tach signal, that runs from the ECM to the tach. It comes out of the connector closest to the drivers side on pin 5, supposedly a black wire. So, if you want the vehicle speed signal, then it's the purple /white wire as decribed above. If you want a tach signal, then it's not purple. So, now I'm confused. Not sure which wire to tell you to use. Either pin 17 purple/white, or the tach signal. UPDATE 9-7-2003Well, when I replied I thought that it was a new post, didn't notice that it was six months old. Don't know why it popped up to the top. Wonder if heever got it working? Next time I'll pay more attention to the post dates, guess they pop up on the list when a moderator moves them from one forum to another.
