2010 Color - Help me decide - RESOLVED 9-16-09

Post by vibe2.1 »

New member, but long-time lurker.I know it may be silly to ask for help choosing a color and it should be based on personal preference.I'm planning to buy a '10 1.8 liter. But, I can't decide between blue or white. Can any current owners of an '09 or '10 in these colors comment on how good they look when slightly dirty, how easily they show scratches, etc.?Thanks for your help!

White is more forgiving than blue in all aspects.Just curious, where are you going to find one? My dealers around here have empty lots!Dave

I have an 09 white GT. It does show dirt, but I barely give it a chance to hang around long I prefer light colors -- much cooler in the summer. On a down note, the front bumper base plastic is black, so stone chips show loud and clear. As for scartches, none yet, knock on wood.My $.02

GM has been shipping them Vibes and other Pontiacs from dealers that have closed or are closing. One of the ones I'm considering was originally sent to a dealership in Tennessee.

White is a good way to go for dirt.

Blue for sure. What a beautiful color to go with the windows. The white looks horrible. I have the white 03 with grey cladding, which looks fine. The new version looks like a snow covered car going down the road. The blue or grey or black look very eligant. Of course the grey and black will show the dirt badly. I just can't get over how badly the white looks with the windows. Again, it looks like someone is carrying a car full of snow and has just cleared the windows off to drive their snowball down the street. Either way vibe2.1, the 09 and 10 are a SIGNIFICANT upgrade to the previous version (especially the Corolla Vibe model). It is a shame that the Camry Vibe owners are having shifting problems and center wheel cap problems. I opted for the Corolla Vibe due to the much better gas mileage. I push my car hard, and get 30 mpg combined in mostly city driving.

We ended up going with white.I've wanted a Vibe for several years. When the 09's first came out, I really wanted a red GT. But, when I was ready to replace my Grand Prix, there were some great lease deals on Saturn Auras, so I picked up a blue Aura instead.I was planning to buy a Vibe next summer, but had to pull the trigger early, since they recently stopped production. When we started seriously looking, we were only considering a blue or black 1.8L. When we saw the dark gray ones in person, we really liked that color but couldn't find one with the options we wanted. We weren't even considering white. But, when we were on the lot at Jim Causley we saw a white one. We were suprised how much we liked it.I agree the blue is elegant. We also still really like the gray and black. However, for us, it really came down to what showed the light scratches the least. So, we went with white. We joke that we should nickname it "marshmallow." Or maybe "snowball" would work, too.I'd really like to tint the windows just because I think it would look good on a white car. I'm also considering installing a black GT rear spoiler.I think I have to do something about that horn, too!Anyway, being a long time lurker, I've anticipated the request for pics. Sorry for the quality of the attachment, but it's dark out and it's in the garage. ---EDIT--- Sorry, but I can't seem to get the pic attached.

Good choice. I have the Navy blue, and think I'd have been better off with a paint that more closely matches the primer, since the paint is so soft!

I would look and make sure the rear deck on the base Vibe you purchased has not damaged the paint. Check out this thread: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=38189And by the way, congrats on picking white! That is a great colour. That was our 2nd choice, but went with black!

We noticed the paint chip issue on some vehicles. We didn't know about the TSB at the time though. We did narrow our choices to those without paint chips on the liftgate.A picture of our Vibe is now attached.ou.grizzly: Do you know of any good tint shops in our area?

I am still looking for a good tint shop myself. I actually may pay the extra money and have a dealer in Rochester Hills do it. I will keep you informed. That Ultra White Vibe looks exactly like the loaner we had when the dealer attempted the repair for 4 weeks. Was a great colour!

Hey vibe2.1 did you get your white vibe tinted? I have a white 2010 1.8L vibe myself and have been wondering about tinting it. If you have any pictures that you could upload of it tinted that would be very excellent of you.
