SpeedEng -- glad to see you made the trip at last! Things are looking bright for your VibeSo let me get this straight as your posts are all over the board. You got a generic OEM stalk with fog switch from a 2008 Toyota, the correct Denso relay, and a set of 2008 Toyota lights (not Vibe or Matrix -- same as the Corolla ones?); pulled the stock covers and installed/hooked up the lights; and they worked. You still have airspace around the outside of your lamps but you are working on that (or have it worked out) and are going to mod some kind of fascia.Question: did the lamp you used mount into the opening like it was designed for it or did you have to mod/build a bracket?Did you get photos of the lamp you were using before you mounted them in?A significant accomplishment. With this experience you may have a bright future as a car thief ahead of you !!

The dealer gave me a decent deal on parts and labor when I asked, so I had them install the factory fog lights themselves while I was in for my recall stuff... I figure this way if something gets messed up, it's totally their fault. Everything works perfectly, it's a lot easier to see at night (though I still want to adjust my headlights in some way), and it looks great! I have a couple pics at night when I picked up the car, but the flash doesn't do much at night. I'll have to take some more in the daytime for the full effect.

Looks like you are missing the chrome ring bezel around the fog light itself. And I also see your headlights are retaining moisture also.

As for the moisture...hmmm... it had just gotten washed, and just driven outside from inside the warmer work area, that would explain why it fogged. Is this problematic?

Ponta, they look fine even (especially) in the dark. I couldn't get either of the two local pontiac dealers to do anything except claim there was no kit yet and it therefore probably can't be done. The Vibe has always been kind of a stepchild there. So I bought the bezels and am waiting to see if a fix can be done. Sounds like Speedeng is close although I am not exactly sure what light he put in. Not the OEM unit for sure. May send him a PM

Between this and getting the splash guards, the people there know me now as "the girl with the part numbers" lol! But they did a good job with the install.

Would there be any interest in me, at some point, popping off one of the covers and getting some pictures of what the factory lights looked like in terms of shape? I know we all weren't sure of whether they were round or not... to me it seems like they might be.

Bling lights ARE a rip off

Post by rvidolof »

Dang, wish I had read the post about Bling lights earlier as well.I got the box in the mail, and it's just the lights, and wires no plastic molding or "fascia" so, there goes $90; plus the shipping I will have to pay to return them. ARG!Sounds like I will have to return them and start over. Ponta2147: What part # did you take in for the "blinker" mounted fog light switch? (i.e. able to turn them on by the headlight switch on the stick? Did they give you any issues on warranty or anything like that? Car looks great, I love yours! I have the same color! One last question, what does the "relay" do in this setup? Should'nt fog lights work fine if they are directly connected to the battery with an appropriate 12V switch and fuse? What purpose is the relay?

No factory warranty issues since it's all OEM stuff... the car technically *could* have come with the same fog lights installed, after all.

SpeedENG.do you need to buy 2 extra wire harness or it comes with the fog light you got it from a Highlander?I was afraid the wire bundle behind the bumper is too short for it to extend all the way to the bulb socket.

SpeedEng,Great work! I have a 2010 and I'm just getting around to this mod now. I have all the parts, except for the relay, installed like OEM (The airbags and sterring wheel puller were a lot of fun when installing the new switch!). The only question I have regards the actual OEM Lamp assembly mounting. How many screws did you use and was there any special mounting hardware?I installed mine with just one screw, from behind through the alignment tab (located in the upper right corner (from the drivers perspective) of the passenger side fog lamp). The other side of the lamp assembly flanges fit nicely into the bumper cover and I didn't put any screw in those 2 spots or the bottom lamp assembly tab on the other side. It seems well secured with the one screw but I'm a bit concerned that I went a bit light on the screws.Your thoughts?Thx,Jay

I installed the ebay Camry fog lights lights. They fit but not exactly the same as the oem ones do. I doubt anyone would notice though. I tested them yet but they connect to the factory harness. I also bought a used relay for about $5 on ebay. I think my local Toyota dealer wanted around $75. It is too cold now so I'll probably finish the install in the spring.
