Post by purilisa »

But I like the Vibe(looks).Thank you for your helppurilisaThe latest quote I recieved from Haley -- 17644 +TTR.. I will keep you guys updated.. just incase someone needs this info.

im assuming 2009 prices? not 200 vibe prices? I was going to say you could get a really good deal if you going to buy a fleet of vibes

I bought a 1.8L in January at invoice less $2,000 less $1,500 rebates (plus I had a 3,000 GM Card rebate). That $2,000 had to come from somewhere - I assume it was dealer incentive money - only was on 4 specific 1.8L units in stock. I am sure the dealer wasn't pricing 2 grand under his invoice. There was a post here several days ago mentioning $3,500 in rebates in addition to a dealer discount on a 2.4L. But generally all I have seen advertised is the $1,500 rebate and about a$1,000 dealer discount.CarMax Toyota is discounting a high end '09 Matrix about $3,500 (that includes rebate). Gives you an idea as to what is possible.I think I'd be aiming for $4,500 total off a '09 Vibe GT. That's my best guess.

I think that sounds pretty good. I got a 2.4 vibe pretty much optioned out with everything except auto trans. It was also missing fog lamps, roof rack and alloy wheels that I wanted and it still end up costing me 21000 and change. To think your getting a GT with the superior rear suspension and auto trans for less than 20000...errrr!!! I was a little impatient when getting mine.. Oh well..I still really love my car. At least it looks like they wanna give you a good deal. Just don't let em finagle ya! i think the rule on resale is you lose $3000 to $4000 as soon as you drive off the lot. After that you lose a pretty hefty percentage every year the car ages.. I've seen some used low mileage 09's going waaaay cheaper than brand new on ebay. Internet shopping looks to be a good way to score a not new but, sorta new vibe. Personally I would never buy a car on ebay but, rather use the internet as a outlet to look for cars. Id comb an area within 200 mile radius and then go to where the car is and test drive it before actually buying it. Sure you have to drive a lot this way but, its the cheapest way to get the car your after in my opinion. Well if your willing to settle for sorta new anyway..

I was rereading last Satudays auto ads and a local Toyota dealer was offering a Matrix MSRP $22,519 for $18,999, ($1,000 rebate and 2,519 dlr discount) . Given the fact that the Toyota nameplate has better resale and they are still in business I stick to my view that you shouldaim for a total $4,500 discount on a Vibe. [Maybe the paint job that many complain about is better on a Matrix - they are made in Canada].

Its the older matrix's that were built in Canada. I'm unaware if the same methods are used for applying paint to both cars or if the matrix has better paint. There seems to be more faith in the maintenance service at the Toyota dealer than the Pontiac. My solution to this is to change the oil and rotate the tires myself. Being that this is really a Toyota, that's really all the maintenance it needs for about 60000 miles (I think gotta check the manual). I bought the vibe because has a Pontiac badge on it. Its a pretty good way to buy American but, still secretly get a Toyota. Most people don't know vibes are Toyota's.

nope. Matrix is still built at the Toyota plant in Cambridge Ontario, not at NUMMI.

Awesome!! Thank you much for your response. I didn't know that car buying can be this much work. This is going to be my first new car so it took me a while to decide between Fit, Matrix, Scion until I saw the Vibe. I love the design but wasn't so sure of the reliability factor until I found out that it's an Matrix twin. Then they close the whole pontiac line which can't be good for the resale value, but I plan to drive it till it hopefully for a long time. I absoutely dislike bargaining and that is the reason I wanted to find out the best price to ask for so I can stick to it when I go to the dealer.Thank youLisa

Vibe GT's sticker for around $23,500 +; so the deal you have there is decent...Buy it, post pictures, and enjoy it...

Thank you for your response:)Almost makes me want to buy the matrix(only for the resale value). I like both vehicles. I will check out Auto trader tomorrow..There are so many mixed stories about where both vehicles are built that it makes me quiet dizzy.Your comments helped.. so now I know what to ask for when i go to the dealer. Thanks again:)Lisa

Just got a GM card top off to $2,000, good thru 6/30.Already have 2 kids driving 03 and 07 Vibes purchased with GM card points. Now have another who will need a car this summer. A 3rd Vibe? My daughter would prefer not, but not really anything else in the GM lineup that is appealing to us.Looked at Edmunds.com, looks like the street price of a Vibe is right around invoice. Anyone buy a Vibe recently? What sorts of deals are you getting. Any other rebates available?P.S. If someone wants a small pickup, the local paper has ads from 5 Ford dealers with new Rangers anywhere from $8,500 - $12K depending on model.

Things change faster than they can keep up. The behind the scenes dealer incentives are impossible to discern - may be dealer specific, tied to meeting quota etc., ordering extra vehicles etc. I know I think I was the lucky beneficiary of such an incentive to the tune of $2,000 the the dealer used to run a blow out special in January.

With both Vibes and my wife's van I was able to get a better dealer selling price than what Edmunds showed. But if GM is offering incentives they are doing a good job keeping them secret. Looking at the local Saturday paper, the big day for car ads, Ford is all over the place, same with Honda, Toyota Nissan and BMW. One store that is a big Honda shop also carries PontiacBuickGMC and they devoted about 1/16 of the page to them. Other than this no GM dealers ads at all.

The only advantage I can see with these limited availability deals is that they may not has as much negative impact on used care values.
