Women drivers (goes with the "how well do YOU park" post)

Post by Sublimewind »

Hi all,I know my title is a bit "sorted" but please, hear me out... If you haven't seen my other post from today, you may with to stop there first... On to my story.... I get a phone call yesterday on my way home from work "Baby, where are you? you on your way home? I need a BIG favor..." Me "ok"Her "I hit a pole"Me "a pole" Her "yeah, I need my wheel/tire changed, it blew"Me "a POLE" (not really getting mad mind you)So, I have a 40mi drive home, she caught me at the 35mi mark and I had to run 20mi in a different direction to help her... I find her in a closed down Walmart parking lot...... With this 15' from the car... Yeah, so I guess she was making a left, going to do a 180 and pull into a space and talk with her friend about dinner, turning into the sun, neither of them saw it till the car hit....???? So, I get there and some nice man had already installed the spare, so I didn't get to inspect anything... I take over and swap her and her friend (plus young daughter) into the Vibe for safety sake... Not a spot of body dammage? Not even any yellow paint on the car, not dents, no cracks (thet wern't there before) nothing... I hit 2 gas stations to fill the mini-spare cause it's low(the first filler didn't work), but things aren't driving right, the steering wheel is cocked to the right 90 degrees and I hear the drivers front tire squealing as I'm going down the road.... I stopped within 2mi to check the tire and it's HOT and I've got 15-20mi to go... Well I made it to within 5mi of home before the donut pops, totally shredded... Luckily I already set it up so when it DID go, I would have someone bring me one of her summer wheels/tires... So, I sit on the side of the road for almost an hour with people whizzing by me, talking to a nice officer that came up and put on his lights to help keep me from getting smucked... I finally get the tire... I start on the last 5mi of my trip, front drivers tire squealing the whole time... Jess's dad has a look today and somehow, she bent the drivers steering knuckle ..!!!!! Seems the outer tie rod is fine... won't know anymore till the knuckle is back in place and it's driven... Now, in her defense and to every woman's defense, most are pretty good drivers, the funny part about it is how it relates to us seeing a woman in a HUGE empty parking lot drive straight into one of those light poles with the large round cement base... nothing around for 200' in every direction... lol... Yeah, fun night last night... lol... I honestly hope this isn't offending any of the women folk here, i'm not that kinda guy, it's just a funny how it all went down...

I'm not offended, just wondering over the title since I'm not convinced it had to do with gender at all. I knew a guy who did the same thing - ran into a pole with nothing around. I think its more like "distracted drivers"

Well thank you for not being offended. I was trying to come up with something quick and that is where I landed... About the only thing i've hit similar to that would be a curb high median running next to a turn lane... good thing it was tapered on everyside, or I would have done some serious dammage... I did hit an actual curb once, but it was because I lost traction in the snow (merz/AJ..lol) that caused me 2k in dammage as it took out the tire, wheel, strut, A-arm, and CV axle... basically the passenger front corner... lol... we as men aren't immune in any way.. lol...

I would've made the title "the pole moved" LOL The loser ex hit a pole in a parking lot and nearly tore the front bumper off his P.O.S. jetta on one of those concrete stops in front of a stall once. His previous P.O.S. jetta got towed away and he did nothing about it. This is why I never let him drive MY car. Oh yeah, he was a constant nag and backseat driver.

Did I mention that the pole, likely weighed as much as the car...lol... What really amazes me is that cast iron usually breaks and doesn't bend.. I thought for sure something was going to come apart on my drive home and send me into the left lane..
