I just saw over at Matrix onwners.com. the official release of the turbo kit that is on my car...Its for the base Vibe....and it comes complete for 2900.00...if your are part of the 1st group buy..of 5 people.....I have been very happy w/ mine as most of you know.....And one thing I can tell you about the install, which I did not have to do, but...its not that bad if you are a little mechanicly inclined....you dont have to remove the axle to remove and replace the exhaust manifold..you have to get rid of the plastic engine cover..the Ic piping is very unobtrusive and is made to fit around every thing ..the air box is removed , and the MAS is made to fit in a bracket in the IC before the intake manifold...the air filter is now a short ram configuration.. and the fuel kit plugs into the fuel rail. lin in/out +.w/ 3 simple electrical wires ...It is a good deal...and just in time for those not happy w/ the SC hp stats... the link shows what comes w the kit and I am happy to see that it comes w/ a boost controller http//www.matrixowners.com/ftopic12144.html

How happy do you think I would be with it on my automatic? Does the turbo spool up fast enough or would I have to do a hell of a brake stand to get a good launch?I'm torn between the turbo and the s/c (with a 45 shot of NO2 to take care of the 60-80+ mph power lag).

I had a few issues with the trubo kit and decided to go with the TRD SC. In California, it's not carb certified and may never be unless a lot of kits are sold to absorb the cost of doing so. That's a big deal here. One ticket and it's a fix-it ticket which means taking it off and inspected and then reinstalling it to keep it. One more ticket and it's impounded. Can't sale the car here in CA as it won't pass smog inspection nor can it be registered after 4 years and then every 2 years after that. It voids the warranty. It's unknown if the auto tranny can handle the extra hp and torque. If your tranny goes, you better have some money saved for a new upgraded one. I'm not trying to talk you out of it but there are some downsides to it.

Right now without any brake stand I get a lurch foreword, then it seems like it stalls until I hit around 3k RPM, then it takes off real nice. If I do a brake stand to about 2500 - 3kRPM, all I get is a bigger lurch then it drops down to 2kRPM. I manage to get a nice squak out of the tires with just mashing the gas, so doing a brake stand launch I'd loose more traction. Because of that, and it's not very good to do to the car, is why I don't like to do it often.I'd like to know if I'd have to wait about the same amount of time (getting to 3kRPM) for the turbo to spool up and at what RPM does the turbo reach full boost on a 'mash the gas' launch.
