Wow... uhhh... Well, as much credit as is due to the aircraft, it's equally due to that pilot. That's just absolutely incredible!

Based on some of the accidents that have been posted on this site (and my own personal experience in one of them) I'd dare say that's about right.

I guess the speed was the only factor keeping him from wiping out. That's freaked out.I hope when the time comes, the Vibe will hold up like that.

DJB you are correct.. It's nickname is the warthog. It's officially the A-10 thunderbolt. It's main mission is a tank killer. When it fires it's main cannon in front of the pilot it can only fire for so long because the recoil of the cannon will actually cause the plane to slow down and possibly stall. It is a great feeling to see them fly over. and then hear that Brraaaaaaat of their main cannon. very reassuring.

That was an awesome story! When he mentioned the cable for the tail hook, that was my job in the marine corps. Aircraft recovery and the emergency arresting gear. The good 'ol days! I got to witness a Harrier do a belly flop as he was doing a normal landing in Iwakuni, Japan. Pilot forgot to put his wheels down. He powered up and flew over our heads dropping debris on us, then did a vertical landing He was also the Pilot of the month for his squadron. AND, there's a HUGE sign at the approch end of the runway, "WHEELS DOWN!"Also, little side story. Had an F18 that had a in flight emergency (I think it had an engine out and loss of some hydralics), wanting to 'trap' (use the cable), at night! He too came in WAY faster then what we were told. I was training a 'boot' (fresh out of school) and I remember telling him that if he see's me running, to keep up or hope he can jump high. Sure enough, plane that normally stops 20 ft infront of me just zoomed by at 80mph! And I know the cable and tape is right behind it so I take off running and grab the new guy, throw him off the runway then dove just as the cable and tape passes by. What a rush!! Still had a job to do so I got up and ran to the plane. Gave him the 'brakes off' signal with my hands cause the light wand didn't make it. Then I let CFR take over. Iwakuni ROCKS!Semper Fi
