This is a mural I drive by every year when I go to VA Beach. It faces Pacific Ave. You have to see it in person, the detail is amazing. Photo taken September 2003.
There are so many excellent photos in this thread! I love looking at photos. Here is a photo I took of Thomas Point Lighthouse near Annapolis on the Chesapeake Bay.

Justin that is awesome! I LOVE lighthouses--I have a mini-collection of them, from years ago when lighthouses weren't popular and therefore hard to find. Now that you can get lighthouse shower curtains and salt and pepper shakers, I'm not in to them AS much, but I still love them. You can just keep sailing and taking pictures of them!
I have a couple other pictures of Thomas Point and then I've only sailed near one other, Bloody Point Lighthouse. I'll play by the rules and only post one a day, so you will have to wait. I plan to sail further this year with more weekend cruises, so I'll try to take more pictures of new lighthouses.

You'd like this area (S.E.Va. Outer Banks N.C.) if you like light houses. There are several within a day's drive.

Too stubborn or just too stupid to give up, I am still trying to get a decent IR picture. This is one of my most recent 3 that I didn't think was TOO bad. Strangely, this is MY least favorite but everyone who has seen it on my DeviantArt page has loved it. Go figure, eh? I have since figured out my problems with IR and now things are going well. I just need more time so I can go out and put my learnings to good use.IR Beta 3:
Not trying to be a snob here...I really like the picture, but I thought I'd point out that, while it is "high voltage", in the power industry they no longer consider this high voltage. These poles look like either 69kV or 115kV. We classify "high" voltage as 250kV and above. Interestingly enough, near Chicago is the 1MV (1,000kV) line - biggest transmission line in the states!Sorry if this is taken as offensive, just thought insight would be great as power poles (not telephone poles - the telephone guys just piggyback the power poles) are all around us and sometimes it's nice to know about them.

Oookay...It's just a title and admittedly, I'm not an engineer. But since you went that way, these lines are a trunk off of a substation. I'd dare say they're not SUPER high voltage but I consider anything you can hear crackling above you to be a darn sight higher voltage than I care to tamper with. And actually, no. I don't take your post as offensive. But it truly is simply a title just apparently not an entirely accurate one.
Ok, is this higher voltage? I call this masterpiece "BBQ'ed CP and his dog Bean if this crap falls." These cut right through the park I often go to when I want to get a little walk in... For some reason, my heart rate monitor absotively refuses to function around there, hmmm. lol! It's a bit ironic, I was looking up at this thing as I was walking the dog around yesterday morning. I thought it would make at least a slightly interesting addition to the thread.. I haven't checked this thread in a bit, I didn't know that there were other power lines in it. lol!

Due to some problems at home I like to go to the boat launch on a peninsula in lake St.Clair. The day I took this there was a big cloud over part of the city of Grosse Pointe (where all the filthy rich people live). It looked cool cause you could see massive amounts of snow falling from this one cloud but around my area it was almost clear.
poor tigeri just watched seasonal forests of planet earth where this tiger pounces on this monkey.. this old guy doesn't get any action..besides being on stage

Sigfried and Roy's show is no longer. I don't know what I feel about these animals. I do believe they are treated fairly well at the Mirage (I'm not sure, but I think they are), but I feel bad that they are in captivity and I'm watching them... and paying to see them. But I love the big cats so much I just had to see them.

I took hundreds of photos from my recent sail down the east coast to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Since n2ho posted an animal, I'll post one as well. Here is a pelican I saw on Ft. Lauderdale Beach:

This tiger photo I posted above (Mirage, Las Vegas) was in response to Sputnik tiger photo from Las Vegas, it could be the same tiger I photograph in the same place 2 years earlier.George
I took this one but never got around to post it.. That's the clock on the Colgate plant in Clarksville, IN. For many years, folks in Louisville, KY have been able to look across the river to see what time it is... This thing originally was in Jersey City, NJ until they got an even bigger clock many a' years ago so it wa shipped and installed here. Of course, this clock's life is ticking away now, Colgate is leaving next year and no plans have been made about what can be done to save this thing.

My g/f is a model and she brought me to one of her shoots so here is one of the shots. Some of the others are a bit provocative so I wont post them unless requested lol.
Ever the wet blanket, I'll step in here.First of all, Rule #22) Please only submit your own work. Second, remember the content rules of the site. I'm thinking provocative = no.
Did you release the shutter on the camera? You know, here's the deal folks. I'm not going to be a major hardass on this line. If it's someone in your family that took it'll slide. But in the case of commercial photos or just something you found on the Internet, nope. Of course if it's a commercial photo YOU took that's OK too.
