Kayak Carriers

Post by 6th Gear »

I just ordered a Yakima roof rack to carry my two sea kayaks on my Vibe. Point of information:For Kayaks, the Vibe requires two different rack mounts, one per side that attach to the aluminum roof rails in the rear, and one per side that attach above the doors in the front. The front piece is the same as the Matrix, the rear piece clamps to the Vibe's factory rails.Specifics:Qtower w Q 83 clips - frontLowRider - rearI am posting this because at this time, the Yakima web site does not let you know that you can carry a boat on the Vibe. However I got both e-mail and phone responses from Yakima that you can with the method I described above. Hopefully, they will update their site soon, so that other Vibe owners can carry their kayks like me!

Thanks for the info. What did all that cost you? If you don't mind my asking. Did you purchase it locally or on line? I was born in Royal Oak and lived there until I was 11, and will be back visiting in a month. Thanks for the info

I don't know the final cost yet, I'm getting an employee price though due to a family member working for the company.I think that normal rack setups for a good brand like Yakima or Thule is normally in the $350-$450 range.
