De-tuned Vibe GT

Post by Thewolf »

Anyone know the scoop on why the 04 Vibe GT is rated at 173 HP , while the 04 Matrix XRS is still at the full 180 HP ?Dealership has not a clue, and it was actually news to the sales droid that it had gone down 7 HP.

MANY topics on this.Tougher emissions standards required additional equipment which caused a reduction in horsepower on the 04 models.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

emission par would make a little more sense, as the Toy is still @ 180 for 04

I was under the impression it was ULEV emissions standards...but I could be wrong...Nick, maybe next time you speak with Jeff you can clarify just for curiositiy's sake?

I figured it was GM trying to coax people into buying the supercharger. Whatever the reason, it still sucks...

I'm referring to buying the base and having supercharger installed. It would look more appealling to young buyers...Obviously not on the GT. I've been around here awhile and know a little about the models, ya know! Same horsies, yes, but torque, no!

Right, S/C or GT, that's exactly what I started thinking. Both are going to need 93 octane, so I'll probably just take it in the shorts for the 7 hp loss and get the GT. The rear discs are very preferable to me.I was planning on either a Borla or TRD cat-back and a CAI anyhow. Hindsight is 20/20, should have not worried about one of us being unemployed and bought the 93 GT back in the spring @ 0%. Oh well.
