Wheel/Rim reference guide

Post by Viberrrr »

I stumbled across this guide and I think it will be of help for those of us like me that are searching for some inexpensive rims for this winter. I was pleased to learn there are many more cars with the 5X100 than I ever knew about. What I don't understand is Offset nor how to measure it. If this guide is helpful maybe we should mark it somehow for future reference.http://www.sromagazine.com/shop/wheelguide.htmlAnd for those that remember I had to chase home early from the Cabbela meet to get my son's car fixed. Well it might be much worse than I thought and headed for the junk yard. But it has the same bolt pattern as our Vibe and I have 8-15" steel rims sitting in my garage that I can choice from. I'm going to see if these will fit.

You have to watch the center bore also. For instance, my wife's Sunfire has the same bolt pattern as my Vibe. However, my old 16" Vibe wheels won't fit her car since the Vibe's wheels have a slightly smaller center bore. On the opposite side of this...her wheels have a slightly larger center bore. If I tried to bolt her wheels onto my car, I could run into some wheel vibration since the wheel hub doesn't precisely fit into the wheel. You can also run into this sometimes with some of the aftermarket wheels as they don't necessarily make them "hub-centric". Just something else to think about when looking at wheels.

Yea I spoke with my brother-in-law about bore size this weekend. He is the best wrench I have ever met. He feels running snow tires on rims with a larger bore size for just 3 months would not be a problem. Long term yes, but not just a snow season. I did like the fact that some earlier Toyotas fit the bill nicely: Toyota Camry 1986-1991 (5x100mm / HPO / 12x1.5 Lug-nut / 54.06mm Bore)Toyota Celica (all models) 1992-up (5x100mm / HPO / 12x1.5 Lug-nut / 54.06mm Bore)Toyota Corolla CE Sedan 2003-up (5x100mm / HPO / 12x1.5 Lug-nut / 54.06mm Bore)Toyota Corolla S 2003-up (5x100mm / HPO / 12x1.5 Lug-nut / 54.06mm Bore)Toyota Corolla LE 2003-up (5x100mm / HPO / 12x1.5 Lug-nut / 54.06mm Bore)Toyota Matrix Base/XR/XRSCorolla LE 2003-up (5x100mm / HPO / 12x1.5 Lug-nut / 54.06mm Bore)Haven't had a chance to check out the rims from my son's 93 Plymouth Duster but I'll keep you updated.
