well I am From so cal have a 2003 base vibe It came with hubcaps and steel wheels. I just acquired a set of GT rims 17inch anyone know if the Lugnuts for the Rims are the Same..?Thanks, I look forward to learning new things here on the Forum

I am going to go pop off the lug on the steel wheels to see what they look like I hope thats what they look like.

i believe the steelies are just your average lug. you'll have to get different lugs. i found a set for about $40 shipped on Ebay. otherwise, they'll be about $4/lug.

the alloy rim lugs are different from the steel rim lugs. Steel rim lugs will not work on alloy rims. The bolt pattern is the same.However you will be running the wrong tire size. GT wheels are 215/50R17 which is different from your steel rim 205/55R16. You'll want to get 225/45R17 tires to accuratly match the stock 16" size. Otherwise your speedo, fuel consumption, odo readings, and even abs can be effected.

No the are not the same. The steelies have threads on the tops so you can screw the hubcaps onto them. And they are gold colored.

they are also open ended and do not have a shaft at the base which seats into the alloy rim.

I believe you need M12x1.5 lugs. Unfortunately, the stock rims don't take the acorn 'tuner' style lugs. Be sure if you purchase replacements that they are lugs with attached washers...As an FYI...The rims don't take the tuner style lugs (with the 45-deg seat) because the rims are built to fit the car. Aftermarket rims are typically built for mass market, so they usually require hub-centric rings (plastic rings that adjust the center hub diameter to match the stock wheel). The 'tuner' style lugnuts are then used to assist in the centering of the wheel (hence the 45-deg seat).

well darn Now I need to get some new Lugs then LOL ...as for the Tires the rims are already mounted on a set of tires and I am Sure the Speedo will be fine with 17's instead of 16's

speedo reading with the non stock tire will be 2.4% to slow. This means when your speedo reads your going 60mph, you are actually traveling at 61.4 mph. Believe it or now that will effect your odo reading, logging inacurate miles on the car Your base Vibe's systems are not programmed with the GT tire size.

well, let's put it this way, if you were to take your vibe into the dealer for work and they notice you have the wrong tires on there, if you have any work that needs done to the car like the odometer cluster (which i had to have them swap out my cluster cause it stopped working), they may not cover it under warranty.

I dont think I need to Worry about uping my rim size by an inch all that much I mean with people Running like 22 in rims on Suv's or even 18's on Vibes....thats like saying if I use a Fram Oil filter instead of the Ac/delco My warranty may be voided.... either way warranty is about up anyway. What about everyone running Lowering Springs?

A lot of those SUV with the 24 inch spinner bling crap have programable body control units that can adjust everything based on the size of the tire.as for it being like filter brands... its more like putting a pontiac 2004 sunfire filter on your Vibe... its the wrong size regardless.

What about everyone running Lowering Springs?it's your car. you can do whatever the hell you want with it. however, a SMART car person knows that tire size and diameter size is extremely important to keep the car running and operating as smoothly as it was designed and PROGRAMMED to do. most people running larger rims and tire sizes are USING A TIRE SIZE CALCULATOR that gives them the necessary size of diameter if they change the rim size. as long as the DIAMETER of the tire is the same or within 1% they are fine. otherwise, your speedo, odometer, braking system, etc all are going to be out of whack. so do what you want to do, but it's obvious when several people are telling you to rethink it, that perhaps there might actually be something to it. Mavrik is a service advisor, you know the guy you go to the dealership, tell him about your woes and how the manufacturer should cover it under warranty?? ya, that guy and has been for about 4 years now. but you go right on ahead with your car.... but if it rains hard and you slam on your brakes and nothing happens til 3 secs after the fact and you get in a wreck, don't expect anyone to be at fault other than yourself. just keep in mind that little things like tire size and tire pressure go a long way.....

to burst most peoples bubble. These speedos are significantly high reading as is. It's a Japanese plot to make you think your car is faster than it is.The radar does not lie. Ha ha... Just get the proper size tire that Pontiac also mounted.
