Yep, when I come up to a light I hit cancel and then use my foot to slowly speed back up. When I get within a few MPH of the target speed, I hit resume. I also have an aftermarket radio, so I'll look into mounting it there, if I get one. The only thing, is that I would have to remove the radio so I can put a hole in the back of the tray for the wire. That thing was a PITA to get the screws in and out.

I'm very surprised to see the low MPG that people are reporting but since many of the threads are regarding performance I guess I'm not shocked. I suspect power and performance are the first considerations of most. I've tracked my mileage a dozen times or so on my 2005 base/5speed and haven't gotten under 50MPG 100% highway. But I do find that even a 15 minute span of city driving added to the highway will reduce the mileage visibly. I kept the window sticker and it's spec'd at 48 highway I believe so seems to be on track.I got 38MPG towing a 1600lb trailer through the mountains. The best I've recorded was 66.7MPG over a straight non-stop highway run of about 8 hours. Just me and one piece of luggage. It was through the rockies and I was trying for best mileage so I planted myself behind a pickup with a looooong horse trailer and let him set the pace so it was a VERY mellow drive but shows the potential...I probably got about 15MPG after I fueled up and passed the trailer...within 5 minutes I had gotten a $197 speeding ticket. Bit pent up I guess...
Two things, I don't have the ScanGauge installed in a semipernament location. When I said "installed" I really meant plugged in and operating. I set it on the dash right in front of me and cover the excess cable with a black towel. I cover the dash with a black towel anyway to cut down reflected glare on the windshield. When accelerating with the Cruise Control simply bump the control upwards no more that 3 times and unless you are on a steep hill it will not downshift. If you need to accelerate more than 3 mph then bump it again up to 3 times.
I just finished my first thousand miles. I didn't get the mileage I was hoping for but it's a lot better than the gass guzzler I used to drive. 24.5 MPG, 70% stop and go, including significant hills, 30% freeway, 65MPH, A/C almost always on, fairly light foot. Auto trans.

Use some of those tiny but powerful magnets in the 10mm socket so that the screw doesn't fall out. 2. Use bee's wax (or a dab of chewing gum) to hold the screw in the socket till you get it started.

I have to assume that some of you higher mileage guys are using stick shift with five instead of the four speeds on automatics. That should be worth a couple of mpg.I typically run 40 % 75 mph driving and 50 % is 65 mph highway, remaning 10 % is city driving .Do any of you get better than 30 mpg with similar driving. Automatic tranny. ?
Dear lord, I would get mid 20's with my Vibe (auto) when I had it if I drove like that. Maybe at the beginning, it could have - I can't recall. But it did much better then...

I just finished the first tank that came with my car and I worked the mileage out to be 31.43 MPG, about 75% city / 25% highway. A/C on most times, got stuck in traffic a couple times. Not sure how accurate that is, I had to convert from litres -> gallons and kilometers -> miles via Google. Plus the car had 24 km when I picked it up, not sure if that was before or after they filled her up. I wasn't driving it very smoothly either, it took me awhile to get used to the touchy gas pedal and I haven't driven a standard in many years. And it looks like Google converts litres to US gallons, not Imperial, just FYI.

My '04 base auto has about 39k on it. I just got it three weeks ago. First tank-30mpg spirited driving. 2nd tank 29mpg (installed K&N typhoon 50 miles in to that tank). 3rd tank-28 mpg (installed aftermarket muffler 100 mi in) and drove very, very hard.I will let you know how I do on a full tank with the new exhaust and CAI. I will try to go easy to see if I can do better than 30mpg.
