Drivers Floor Mat - How is it anchored?

Post by dalemccl »

The 2006 manual says that the driver's front floor mat is anchored so that it doesn't slide around by connecting the two round circular holes in the mat to "anchors" on the floor just in front of the seat. I just got my Vibe but the driver's floor mat is not anchored and there is nothing to anchor it to. There are two holes in the floor carpeting with round grommets very similar to the holes in the mat. But nothing to attached the mat to. I was expecting some type of hooks that would be inserted into the holes in the mat. I think something is missing or the dealer didn't install the anchors when they put the floor mats in during pre-delivery prep. How does your mat attach?

There should be 2 carpet retainers that pop-in the grommet style holes. The part number is #94858267, and you can find them at GMPartsDirect.com

you might also want to check under the rear cargo area (where the tie-downs are) and in the glovebox. mine weren't installed, but i found them in the first few days i had the car (i've got an '05).

Here is a (crappy) pic of one of the hooks. If you just got the VIbe, make the dealer get them for you, they are standard, not optional

Thanks everyone for the info, and joatman for the picture. There are a couple bags of stuff under the cargo area. I'll check them to see if the anchors are in there. If not, I'll go back to the dealer.

Be sure to let us know if they are there. I have same situation. I have not needed to open those bags yet, and I wasn't planning on taking it back to the dealer just for this.

AHA!! I was wonder what those little darn hooks were for. Yes if they are not installed then they will be in one of the bags under the rear cargo area.

They were actually in a small bag laying on the cargo area floor and I hadn't noticed them before. The small bag may have been packed with the floor mats, which were in a large plastic bag. The installer who put in the mats must have forgot to install the anchor hooks.
