well i bought my Vibe 2 days ago and who here bought the extended warrenty on the Vibe?I drive alot so warrenty might last 1.5-2 years. Past like 2 or 3 years up to 100,000 miles covered was an extra 1500 or something. is that worth it?What did you guys pay? and how much did you get it covered to? i decided not to pay it right now but can add it at any time.
FOA, Welcome to GenVibe!I didn't buy an extended warranty. Too many loopholes and still a lot of deductibles in those plans. For the price of most extended plans, you'd have to drop a tranny for them to be worth it.
thanks. from teh looks of it i guess i wont get it.my brother just bought a 2006 toyota corola and he purchased the entended warrenty for $600 up to 100,000 miles. that probably would be worth it.

I've got the GM MajorGuard, zero deductible, which expires somewhere around 88,000 miles. It was pricey - $1900 but was worth every penny of it. Last time I had to use it, the warranty gave me well over four grand for the transmission. All told, I have more in new parts installed on this thing under warranty than what the car is worth. I highly recommend the GM warranty, it's easy to live with and has a great amount of coverage.

I bought my vibe slightly used 26k miles on it. so before purchase i had my mechanic look it over and he okay'd the car so i bought it with out a extended warranty. I am 1. banking on toyotas reliability and 2. most of the time its not worth it, unless you get a lemon like CP

CP, you are a living example of my theory of Reverse Causality:"When you acquire an Effect, the Cause will find its way to you."In other words, by purchasing an extended warranty, it became necessary for you to use it.Usually, Reverse Causality shows itself anytime you get a tax refund or a raise. Suddenly some household appliance breaks, or your kid needs emergency dental work, or your wife wants new carpeting.

I have a 2003 Vibe. I have taken it to a dealership once at 35k miles. The power window was not operating smoothly. I currently have 88k miles, and have only changed oil and maintained fluids. I am glad that I did not purchase the extended warranty. However, I purchased the GMPP major guard for my 3/4 ton truck. With 4wd, and all the electronic sensors, I know how much it would cost if something goes wrong.

Actually, he bought it just as the factory warranty was expiring, which was why it was more expensive to buy at that point. And if I remember correctly, he had already needed some expensive repairs under the factory warranty so that's why he bought the extended.
I never buy them... My dad did once on a used 1988 Chevy Corsica and the PCM failed, paid the deductible and in that case it was worth it but we never used the warranty again. Drove the car for 130,000 miles too. My Vibe has been to the dealer once and for the Cat Converter TSB. I over maintain my vehicles in general, my tools are my extended warranty! But I do not think they are a bad idea, shop around first if you are going to get one and know all the rules applying to it. A GMPP is one of the better warranties...
yah, but C.P. you sorry dealer could not even figure out a lifter needing an adjustment. SO IF POSSIBLE buy the warranty from a dealer that also sells Toyotas. Then he knows you mean business. BC, good deal on the $850. ALSO these ext. warrs are negotiable. My friend got $1000 off his on a truck. It's always best to say. "I won't buy with out one." and argue the price. At retail, The dealer makes about 50% an ext. warranty.
