Well it happened on a rainy day about a week and a half ago. I was pulling out in to some traffic and got on it. Now as for most GT's I would guess, some times when you hit lift when the road is wet you can lose traction. If you remember I had under drive pulleys on my car. So any ways I was going and it hit the rev limit when it lost traction, and then it happened OIL LIGHT came on. As you might know I have been back for a month now from Iraq and have not had time to take off the crank pulley off. I planned to do after all the info you guy's gave me and as some of you advised. I was going to do it right after I came back from Cali on vacation. If you have a crank pulley do not hesitate, take it off today, it only took a month to kill my engine. On a good note the same day and the night before I flew to Cali I put on the stock pulley back on. While I was in Cali my wife had it taken to Pontiac. It took them a few days to find out what the prob was, and it ended up being oil pump failure and starved the motor. Well looks like I am getting a New motor under warranty thank god for small favors.
How did they determine it was your oil pump failure that caused the engine to break? I wish I could get mine fixed under warranty b/c I almost know it had to be something very similar, but they won't even look beyond the mods and I have to foot the bill myself! New (used) engine should be on the way shortly. Let me know what everything comes out to there w/ your replacement.

Cause I was about to get one!I wouldn't put one on my car.I think there are upgraded oil pumps available that can handle the extra vibration from the underdrive pulley, but the stock one sure doesn't seem like it can. Not sure what power gains you can expect out of a pulley change, but it certainly can't be worth the risk to the engine.mac99d was lucky to get the engine covered under warranty, I'd say there was a pretty good case for the aftermarket mod causing the failure.

One bolt is way different than all the stuff you had and easy to overlook while pulling apart a motor. I wouldn't use a pulley on the GT even with an upgraded oil pump. The extra undamprd vibrations will also have an effect on the crank bearings. You guys are breaking your cars. I'm happy if you can get them fixed for free(plenty of dealer messing with others to keep me from ever feeling bad for car companies) but I wouldn't automatically expect it.

Well I finally got my car back on Friday, cant complain to much since it was replaced under warranty. Going to take it easy for a while to break it in. They told me that they had to build it and and ship it right from the Assembly plant. Sure am glad to have my car back missed driving it, and now I am missing lift.
