MY NEW CAR LIFT -- life just go alot easier.

Post by nkaltso »

After a couple of days of finding the right tools my new Bend-Pak MD-6XP is up and running. Here is a couple of pics. I got it because I need to drop the powertrain out of my sisters old Deville to replace the headgaskets. Its low and fits well under my vibe. and all I do is drive over it every day. It is also protable and does not bolt to the gound so it can be moved around. Please mind my mess the car and grage is dirty and its to cold to clean itNick

I paid $1450 for itBend Pak only sells through disturbuters they can refer you to one in your area. They can have it shiped right to his front door (you just have to find a way to get it off the truck, the hard part.). Mine was sent to the nearest Yellow freight distribution center. I picked it up in my truck and drove it home, and took my time unloading it.I just got done serviceing my car, and its great I have a creaper that I just sit on and roll around on under the car with perfect access to the undercarrage. the car goes up and down easily and it hides away when your done. This is perfect for a grage that you cant fit a 2 poster in.NIck.

Yes it has a 3 postion safty lock, and the car is very stable when it is in the air. The unit is well built and not cheap like some other brands of midrises out there. Here is another pic.Nick

By the way sorry the grage and car is a mess. I did not feel like moping today. Here is how I got it off the truck. I used the Cherry picker on the heavy cylinder end then my brother and I picked up the roller end. We managed to pick it up as my sister drove the turck forward, but it is a 4 person job to be safe. its very heavyNIck

The flooring consists of two different things. Both are industial floor paints by PPG.the Blue is epoxy called Aquapan. Its a industiral 2 parts epoxy that comes in many colors. Then on top of it is PPG Pitthane ultra gloss urathane based clear coat. This top coat does serveral things give it a great shine and look, resists warm tire pick up and makes it slippery as hell when it is wet. but you get used to it.You need to do a very good job preparing the cement before applying it. I have no issues with tire pick up and it looks great 2 years later. I applied it to my inlaws grage floor and they love it also.Nick

There are quite a few different brands of lifts out there, but you get what you pay for. When I researched 4 post lifts, I could have paid about $500 less and went with a Chinese import, but went with a Bend Pak HD-9. Very happy with mine. , and I'm sure you'll enjoy yours also.

Wow that is nice. I have been looking at lifts for a couple of years now, and it seems Bend-Pak is the brand to buy. Unfortunatly my garage has 8 an eight foot ceiling (yours looks to be 10'). I have been trying to decide between your model and the LR-60P. I will need to move it to the center of my 2 car garage most of the time it gets used. How much work is involved with relocating yours? I also have an uneven concrete floor (about 1/2" between left and right sides). Another less desirable option is to use it in the driveway, but it has a slight uphill slope. Just looking at pictures of the two different models it looks like the LR-60P would be easier to move and able to handle the uneven floor better, although I would like to have the added lifting hieght of yours. Any suggestions?

Dont bother with the LR60 It is only a 2 ft rise plus it is not portable, and It must be bolted to the ground.I love this lift. It is a 4 foot lift. The highest I got the Vibe is 8 ft so you should be fine. Pluss I just drive over it every day, and I dont have to drive over humps. Most cars can do that. I use 2x4's to lift them up so be carfulIt rolls around with help from a dolly that the hydrolic pump is on. so far I have not moved it. I placed steel plates to protect my floor and I have used it a alot.Right now I am rebuilding my sister Deville with a Northstar (err. deathstar) in it. It has a blown head gasket,. The lift has no problem lifting it and has proved to be a God send for such a labor intensive job. I could not imagine doing it with the car on jack stands.Let me know if you have any questions. and if you have the money Do it you will not regret it.Nick

that hoist looks like it would be easy to build some sort of ramp or housing around it that you could just drive up over. for the price, it'd be worth it.anyone else have a hoist in their garage?

Looking at the pics and reading the comments it appears the the Vibe fits right over it.My concern is with a much smaller and lower car. The small ramp idea is good though. I guess some stacked plywood planks/ramps on either side should help. The specs say 4-3/4" minimum pad height. That's just a tad high.An excellent find though.

Sorry it has taken me a month to reply.I have been out of the country in Asia alot lately. The Lift is still working and is one of the best tools in my garage. I have lifted everything from my Vibe to My F150 pickup, and it does not have any issues.Im convinced that everyone should have one of these in there garage. Although people drive by slow when they notice a car floating in the air.It is worth every penny. we park over it every day and you never know it is there till you need it.As for the ramps. My STS is rater low, low enough that it hits the lifts so I park it on the other side of the garage. When I have to service it I use the platform I built from 2x4's laying on there sides. I made about 8 of these platforms each about 4 ft long. Just the right size to carry them around the garage, and they are used alot. That's about it. If you like more pics I can get them for you,Nick

that would have made my neon underbody install much easier. haha. I just had to use 2 drive on ramps, w/e they are called. haha. Drove up them first, then backed up them to finish the back. What a pain in the but!

I found a few nice lifts at http://www.pacetools.com. The scissor lift in particular can be found here:http://pacetools.com/Products/VLR-6Sand seems to be a little cheaper than the lifts everyone else are talking about.Just my 2 cents
