Switch for lights install(wannig Big pics)

Post by NascarXprt »

with my speakers came 3 little l.e.d. lights built into em and i have set up to a switch under the e-brake to turnem on or off. this is how:to get the switch in the blank insert drill a hole so that the switch can fit into it and not fall out.1. remove the 4 bolts holding the center console down. there are 2 in the front tray and there are 2 under the arm rest. these bolts need a 13/32 socket.2. after they are removed lift up on the console from the back and unplug the 12v. outlet.** now you can remove the coin insert.(** for 03-04 if you have the outlet under there.)3. for the power you will need to seperate the cord from the 12v outlet and put you wire into the slit and put the cord and 12v outlet back together.4. next run your power source to the switch and start running your wires to what ever you need wired. for me it was my speakers.5. after you have ran your wires to your objcets (that point for the connection would be the part with a red spot or indicatior or something like that.) then you would now run your ground wire to any point on the car. i put my ground wires on the 2 bolts that hold the e-brake to the car 2 wires on one bolt and the other 2 on the other bolt.sorry but the unclear photos and big pics.now just hide all the wires and put the 12v cord back into is conector and put the console back into its place. your end result might look like this. l---O--- ground l---O---ground12v.-- / ---l---O---ground l---O---ground l---O---ground* /= switch O=speaker or object.

That's a cool idea- using the coin holder as a switch location. Never use it anyway.BTW- nice toes

That's a great modification, especially taking advantage of the space below the parking brake. I may not use a switch like that for speaker lighting like you did, but I may consider a kill switch or similar.
