Tranferring stuff from PC to a Motorola phone?

Post by Mase »

I need a program that will allow me to transfer ring tones and pictures to a motorola phone without requiring an internet connection.Right now, I use WebJal on my laptop with a usb cable to xfer stuff but the pc needs the constant internet connection for authentication purposes. I want to be able to bring my laptop to work and hook people up without having to connect to the net.Connecting to the net at work is not an option since the military blocks out unofficial http traffic.

The only way it will work without a network connection would be with BlueTooth, IR or external cable, I use BlueTooth to transfer stuff to my cell phone, but without a network connection, cable, BlueTooth, or infrared communications, it's not possible.

I rephrased my original post. Here's a summary:1. I have a laptop with a usb cable that connects to phones.2. The webjal program can transfer stuff, but the program requires me to log in for licensing purposes via the internet.3. I need a program that will allow me to xfer stuff from my laptop to phone (via the usb cable) without needing an internet connection for the laptop.Hope that helps. Thanks

Oh, that clears it up, if you plug the phone into the USB the computer should recognize it as a drive (in my computer), that is, if you are using XP, and you shouldn't need a third party software package.

The phones show up as a modem and not a removable drive. I'm hooking up Nextel Motorola phones so I wouldn't be surprised if they needed proprietary software.

Ahh, I didn't think about that. Yeah, you would probably need software then. I would try http://www.download.com

Thanks for the suggestions guys.I found a copy of "MyJal" that does pretty much everything I need. I also found a copy of Moto's Mobile Phone Tools, but I'm having trouble to get it to install. Does anyone know if it'll let me upload pics from my phone to the computer via the usb cable?

It's a lousy piece of software, though, prone to hanging and crashing, in my limited experience.
