I'm thinking about some 17" on my Vibe and I want to put 225/45 R17 on them.Should I take 17x7", 17x7.5" or 17x8"???225mm = 8,85", so I think 17x7" will be too small.Anoyone can confim my though?
trd's wheel package is 225/40/18 w7.5 so id go with the 7.5 i've never seen a 17x8 though those would be nice.
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!
http://www.tirerack.com hs over 50 wheels listed for the Vibe and a number are up to 8" wide. They list acceptable rim widths for a huge array of tires. Several other sites, e.g. Discont tire have similar specs.
Thanks guy! I'll go with 7,5 or may be 8". I'll take about this to the wheel shop guy. He should know about this. May be 17x8 will be a little bit too width and it will be easier to scratch the wheel.
IMHO 8" is too wide of a wheel for a 225 tire - the wheel will stick out further than the tire, thereby negating the benefit of those new "rim protector bands" found on most new high-performance tires. 7.5" is plenty, and 7" is adequate as a lot of factory 17's are only 6.5" wide. I say go with the 7.5's, you'll be happy!Pete
