Is it just mine, or does these thing seem to do the opposite of what it's suppost to do. I get MORE bug splats on my hood and windshield with it on then I did when there was none.

Depends which one you get. I have a "Perfect Fit" model on my Vibe and just took a 2200kms trip and the hood was pretty clean. The windshield is only normal since you are slighty higher than a car. You will see the difference in the winter, trust me.

Its funny, it just occured to me that the only reason I got a bug/hood deflector was because it looked cool... I never really put any thought on its functionality...

I have the carflector one, and I would say I have had a decrease in bugs and, more importantly, rocks since I put it on. If I am just imagining it though, it could be the same as before, but I have definitely not seen an increase. I'm happy with mine.
I have the Lund one. I'll take a picture of it this weekend. It's more of a low profile one, but my hood protector I had on my GA kept the hood and windshield cleaner, and it was the bra type hood protector.

Is Carflector the brand of Ventshade? What stops it from coming in contact with the hood/paint? Can you wash/wax under it with no problem? Sorry for all the questions but I had a bug shield on a car years ago that trapped debris and held it here. The hood rusted and it was a pain to wash under the shield. I had to take it off to wax the entire hood. It also utilized little adhesive rubber bumpers to keep the sheild off of the hood/paint. Im looking for a bug shield and want to avoid these problems. Thanks!
My deflector is a "Perfect Fit" model which I purchased at the dealer for around 70.00$CAN. Check out my pics and you will see that it is a very nice deflector. Let me know what you think!

Thanks!Hmm, then you don't want the Carflector. Yes, you would have to take it off to wax the whole hood and it does have the plastic bumpers (I didn't put them on though. It didn't look like they would really do anything, but I still have them in case I change my mind.) As far as stuff getting trapped in it, I have not had that problem. There is enough clearance where water can slide through I think. I don't park near any big trees or anything though, so if you do, maybe leaves *might* be a problem. I don't know. Anyway, the one I got was reccomended in a thread a long time ago. I'm sure you can find it by searching. I got it off partsamerica.com. It's pretty easy to find.
I did buy the Carflector. It is made by Ventshade and cost $52. I'm very pleased! It is exactly what I wanted. I didn't use the little bumpers either. There is no way the deflector can come in contact with the hood. Took about 5 minutes to install and has plenty of clearance between the deflector and the hood. It's 3/4" from the hood so it should not trap debris and will clean easily. You probably could wax the hood with the deflector in place but I'll remove it for waxing. Here are a couple of pics. Sorry it was raining
I located a distributor of Formfit hood guards (bug deflectors). The product is made by Focus Auto (www.focusauto.com) 800-419-5103 in Canada and you can order from them, but shipping is high to the states. In the states you can get it from Central Automotive Distributors at 800-687-2090 or 303-752-1885 (Colorado). Ask for Dawn. Good, but pricey. $88.89 plus about $27.00 shipping.
