Title, 'nuf said! Still using stock HU, I am going to try to use M&T amp wiring to run RCA's to PG amp with an inverter or whatever it's called. Picked one up last night. Also plan to get JL 6.5" speakers for all 4 doors. Probably won't be today, but hopefully within next couple of weeks. I'll be sure to take pics!

Still need to pick up a few things, but X-mas day ought to be bumping!

Sweetness Gotta take some pics bro EDIT: I just noticed that you plan on using the stock M&T amp. Bad idea, since it absolutely sucks. It'll be pumping out a whopping 12.5w RMS per channel @ 4ohms..I HIGHLY recommend you swap in a new 4-channel amp.
You're going to have to swap out the amplifier. No ifs ands or buts. The stock amp is putting out probably 20-25w RMS at 2 Ohms. The speakers you're putting in really want anywhere between 40-50w at 4 Ohms...they're going to sound okay, but they aren't gonna be loud...

I'm using the M&T wiring for the Phoenix Gold amp(just splicing off of the wiring), but that is just to power the JL. The door speakers will have to run off of the M&T amp for now until I can get a new amp. I have no choice there. I have already been warned that I won't have the sound I want yet. With the body kit, spoiler, X-mas, and all that going on, I just can't afford it right now. Just spent $125 on wiring for the amp! $$ I didn't have mind you. Oh well, one piece at a time!

My understanding is if you run speakers off an amp that can't power them, it can both ruin the speakers and blow the amp...If you don't have an amp for the speakers, my advice would be do not install them until you do.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
More the speakers than the amp. What happens is, if the amp doesn't have enough power, turned up high enough, it'll play mostly distortion to the speakers, which is what really destroys them. If you start to hear any sort of distortion, you have to turn it down, even if it's already quiet.

Well, it's done and it sounds freakin' awesome! The JL about blows the rear hatch open! The whole rear door rattles, as well as everything else in the car! The door speakers sound super too! I'll be posting pics from the install soon, maybe tonight or tomorrow. We just did it yesterday. Took all day to drill out the rivets in every door and install the coverter for the rca's and install everything, but it was well worth it!

It defiintely sounded CLEARER, just very low and kinda empty - very lacking in mid-bass...I guess that's the best way to describe it.
Ok, here it goes. I'll post all the pics now and the description shortly.Polk Momo 6.5" for front doors.JL 6.5" for rear doors.Stock front door speakers. Had to drill out rivets in bracket to install new Polk brackets and speakers. Also came with Crossovers which had to be installed and were taped with velcro to inside of door panel(sorry, not shown).Finished product!Same had to be done for rear door speakers except the JL's did not come with Crossovers.Finished product! The hardest was the front driver's side door as the clip for the windows and locks did not want to come loose. Ended up unscrewing the whole assembly from the door panel, then figured out I wasn't pushing the side stopper clip in hard enough which is why it wouldn't come loose. Oh well, got it anyways! On to the M&T amp. Had to remove the front seat (easy, 4 bolts!) to get to it. Also have to remove the sensor plug from the bottom of the seat when taking it out. Unscrewed M&T amp (3 bolts if I remember correctly) to see other side (found to be unnecessary as you only need to unclip the wiring harness's(?) to use the wires to run Phoenix Gold amp using M&T amp wiring). Spliced off of front speaker wires for convertor box to use RCA's (purple and pink for one side, light green and blue for the other).Vioala(?), finished product! May rearrange the amp and cap to under the panel and remove the spare. Not safe, but cleaner and better to put speaker all the way back against the rear seat to make more room in cargo area.Questions or comments let me know!

Well, I was out screwing around with some more stuff and changed things up a bit. Seems to sound better and gives me a little more room, even though it doesn't look as good. I will take/post pics tomorrow. Still haven't gotten that d@^^ XM brackett installed yet! Probably get that done and maybe even the mid-gate spoiler installed tomorrow unless it pours like it did off and on today.

Didn't take the pics yet as I again went out and rearranged things. Also installed my mid-gate spoiler tonight so I will get out and take pics of all that tomorrow I hope! Since I didn't explain or take pics of the 1st rearragement of the speakers and such I will explain what I did and what was wrong. To try to get more room out of the back of the car I thought about doing as others have done and putting the amp and cap under the floorboard. Then I got a wild hair and decided to just remove EVERYTHING! I pulled the floorboard, tire cover, spare tire, and small box just behind the back seat and put the sub box, amp and cap down in the hole. Didn't get to listen to it until this morning and everything was rattling to pieces! It sounded terrible. Put everything back in EXCEPT the small box cover behind the rear seats and put the cap in there and am going to mount the amp to the side of the speaker box tomorrow. Pushed the box all the way back against the seat and used those handy cargo straps and rail clamps to hold it tight. Now it sounds awesome and doesn't shift while I am driving! Mission accomplished and installed the mid-gate spoiler this evening. Let me tell you what, if that is not the biggest pain in the @$$ I don't know what is! Right now I only have 2 screws holding it on until I can realign the other 2 and figure out how to bolt them on b/c they are in such an awkward position. Let the dealer do this or be ready for some work! Anyways, pics tomorrow! Oh yeah, still need to install the XM bracket too! Not enough tim ein the day and I'm on vacation!!!!
