Truth to tell, I don't really know. I follow basketball about enough to catch up on controversy, but not much more than that. I think about half of the players out there are a bunch of overpayed, whiney little brats (Ron's a perfect example of that). But that's just my snarky opinion.
Recent Pacers coaching history...Larry Brown was Pacers coach before Larry Bird. (Had the other hip replaced during his tenure at Indiana btw)Rick Carlisle was assistant Pacers Coach under Larry Bird for the years Bird coached the Pacers, taking the team to the NBA finals against the LA Lakers. Then Isaiah Thomas coached the Pacers. After Larry Bird returned as Pacers GM, he fired Isaiah Thomas, and Rick Carlisle was hired as head coach.================Ron Artest is a pathetic confused little boy still acting out like the spoiled brat he is.Ron also plays at basketball when he's not suspended, benched, injured, or promoting his rap music label. And despite the negative stuff, he plays b-ball pretty well and gets paid incredibly well.

Sorry to disappoint ya Hope. No, it's not QUITE the naked drunken bodies like 'Girls Gone Wild', but this has to be the wildest NBA Player vs Player vs Fan insurrection ever! It was major enough that you'll probably see highlights on TV and sports cable channels EVERYWHERE. The NBA should fine the players individually in the hundreds of thousands each (like money makes any difference to someone making $20 million a year) and suspend ALL their *sses for weeks. Based upon the fan conduct, I think the Pacers will refuse to play in Detroit without a major increase in court-side security. NO SECURITY was evident until several minutes into the player-fan fisticuffs, and virtually no security was there to escort the Pacers from courtside when the game was called by the officials with 45.9 seconds still to play.

Yes silver, Carlisle WAS Pistons head coach for a while, and was fired by Detroit before Indiana hired him as head coach last year. Larry Brown was head coach at Philadelphia for several years between Indiana and Detroit.

A fight breaks out between players and fans at the Pistons-Pacers game Friday night. http://www.clickondetroit.com/....htmlh ... .aviArtest has been talking trash about the Pistons since the end of their 04 season. There was a lot of tension in this game.I went by The Palace in Auburn Hills this morning on my way to the Mi. mini-meet. I guess it's a bunch of frustrated RedWing fans.

Well, without hockey, we needed to see a brawl....and it had to happen in Detroit. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!Bad for the sport, but nice to see. As for the Piston fan who walked on to the court (error#1) and then picked a fight with an already pissed of Pacer (error#2) does not deserve anything less than an a$$ whoppin'.

IMO 'courtside seats' will take on a whole new meaning when assault charges are filed against players and fans after this!Related thread, but without the cool video clips --> http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=13597

Update 11-21-04NEW YORK (AP) -- Ron Artest was suspended for the rest of the season Sunday and two of his Indiana Pacers teammates must miss a total of 55 games for fighting with fans in a melee that broke out at the end of a game against the Detroit Pistons. Overall, the NBA banned nine players for more than 140 games, some of the harshest penalties ever issued. Artest is the first player to be suspended for nearly an entire season for a fight during a game. ``The message the league sent was so powerful to players that they'll never do that again,'' Pistons CEO Tom Wilson said. Indiana's Stephen Jackson was suspended for 30 games and Jermaine O'Neal for 25. Detroit's Ben Wallace -- whose shove of Artest after a foul led to the 5-minute fracas -- drew a six-game ban, while Pacers guard Anthony Johnson got five games. ``I'm sick about that for Indiana. I'm devastated for them,'' Pistons coach Larry Brown said. ``And we lost our heart and soul.'' Four players were suspended for a game apiece: Indiana's Reggie Miller, and Detroit's Chauncey Billups, Elden Campbell and Derrick Coleman. All of the suspensions are without pay.
