Sorry I deleted the link in error......I know that there are many US soldiers right now dying in the war in Iraq and trust me my heart goes out to those brave young men and women.I just find this loss of a Canadian soldier a waste since it is a meaningless death, we buy crappy equipement from a so called ally and they sell us junk. Then one of our brave goes down trying to save his comrades because of a known malfunction....it is truly a sad day for all of us.My heart and prayers go out to the family, RIP.

What is also hard to swallow is that it was reported as a minor fire on board!

Et ceci n'avais rien à voir, avec un "marin saoul" dans un "sous marin", LOLFor English speaking, I'm sorry, this is a play of words that cannot be translated.P.S.: Yes it is a sad story, even sadder is the fact that it could had probably be avoided.

if there is any indication to suggest why we don't send our troops to war like in iraq? Well its simple, we can't even keep our three subs from catching fire out in the water... So under funded and using such crappy equipment, I wouldn't want to go to war either.

that must be a comforting thought to fall back on if your country gets invaded, taken over, and ceases to exist.

Unfortunately, over 1000 brave Americans have been killed and over 6000 injured meaninglessly over the last couple years too.As an aside, I always find it interesting that there is a common misconception that conflict makes nations stronger. Yet the reality is we send our fit, our brave, our worthy off to die in wars while the selfish, the unhealthy, the cowardly remain, protected. Sort of a reverse Darwinism that I sure don't see as making any nation stronger.(PS - I don't think Canada has anything to fear. Any country that might have a remote interest in invading and taking them over has a military in as bad a shape or worse. I also don't know why people whine over the US's military budget. When you look at the whole pie, it's still such a small piece. Maybe we pump some ethanol corn subsidies into the military so our soldier's family aren't spending about $1500 annually to send them basic supplies, like goggles, TP, boots & socks, body armor (for heaven's sake!), cold weather gear, etc.Too bad our government doesn't always use our military in endeavors worth a crap, never mind their lives.)
