Is anyone else sick of hearing about all the bodykits that were being made for this car. Everyone sends something throught these forums but in the end we will probably all get rid of the car before a bodykit is even available. So ill be the first to say it... I'm getting sick of my vibe GT. I use to love it but there is no way to get the amount of power needed to satisfy my need for speed and this car seems destine to never amount to anything more then a wagon with headroom, very tall gears, the smallest amount of torque, and a plastic bed. I use to love it but as of this day i hate the fact that i cant do anything to this car other then an intake, exhaust, and a unichip. And for turbocharging etc. I'd rather spend that 7 grand and buy a 350Z or something that atleast gets looks other then "what the hell is that thing". Now just to tell the rest of the comunity of genvibe... i really enjoyed looking at this site to see the improvements as well as the future of this car but guess what ... this is the future of this car and its sad to say but im done and this car will be in my memory but not because it was a wagon or even because it was a shaggin wagon but because it was my Wagon....Thank you very much for all ur support and i hope everyone has a great life. goodbye
Ha ha haha ha hahahahahahahaahahahahaa!!! THis should be in the humor forum!!! This guy seems like he had a bad day at work. Someone give him a tissue I think I see a tear..... Great post!!

My Car, with the kit on. it looks awesome! come and check it out, tell me what u think.P.S. the gray will be painted momentarily http://www.cardomain.com/ride/514882/1
well, I didn't buy this car for power, or to look cool. i bought it because it was the best gas mileage I could fit in. I don't care about bodykits, they won't improve my mpgs. I'm not really interested in mods for more power, because my poor self control would make me use the more power at the expense of mpgs If I was going to trade in the vibe fo another car, then maybe it would be for a Prius, but then again maybe not. The last time I saw a new prius, I realized that the rear window reminded me of an Aztek. These cars are what they are, and it can't be everything to everybody. They aren't enough for knuckles, so I hope he finds something that meets his desires. He wasn't the first and won't be the last to move on from Vibe/Matrix in search of more power.I can't relate to getting rid of a car because there are no bodykits available for it, and envy the liberty to be able to dump a car because you get bored with it. I still really like my base 5 speed Vibe with it's two tone cladding and all. I'm at about 60K miles now, averaging 36 mpg, and am looking forward to many more fun miles in it.
I didn't buy my vibe because of it's blazing speed. If i really wanted that, I would have held out and bought a SRT-4... But i didnt because the pontiac vibe is the best car for the money: roomy, safe, good gas mileage, and different. So there... BAM MUTHA !$@#%*!!
yeah, wagon, I know what you mean. I bough the GT assuming that a turbo and the GTR bodykit would be available. I wanted a WRX, but the vibe was in my price range.Okay, so, go research new cars now. Go ahead. Find another car that has 180 hp, can fit you and all your friends and all their gear. Find another car that can get you all that and 35 mpg. Moonroof, great stereo, and real fun "get up and go" drivestyle. Nope, you can't do it.And by the way, 350 z's are a full 10k more than the vibe gt. Tax, tags, title, (no rebates) out the door...10k more. That means $200 more per month. Dude, you can't compare the two. As far as the neon goes.....um.....well.....its a neon. Drive that thing for a couple years and it sounds like you'll be in the same boat. Don't be mad at the car cause you can't afford a 350z and wanted it to perform like one. You got more than what you paid for, which is more than I can say for pretty much any other car under $30k, and some over $30k.So, if you want to spend an extra 10k on the vibe, you could and it would blow the doors off of a 350z. You'd need a 3 grand custom body kit and probably 7k of internals, and you'd be happy, right? NO, you'd just be broke.Apples to oranges my friend. So, we've established that you don't like apples. Go ahead and look at oranges that you can't afford.
man, did i just hear a cat hiss? seriously, you really bought a 4cyl because you wanted a really fast car??? <<laughing>>perhaps you should get a honda? <<laughing again>>in all seriousness, im sorry you were disapointed in the vibe.

Hey! I only got my Vibe 6 weeks ago and it is very fun to drive. I still have a honda that is for sale now.I am one of the ones building a body kit and if you think it happends overnight try it yourself. I am building it by myself and by hand. I don't have a team of employees or unlimited funds but it will be out sometime in January for sale to all Vibe owners. As for your need for speed. Why did you buy this car????? Why not buy something with the power you wanted in the budget you have? Is it that hard to do??Quit complaining and do something about it!!!!!

I use to love it but there is no way to get the amount of power needed to satisfy my need for speed and this car seems destine to never amount to anything more then a wagon with headroom, very tall gears, the smallest amount of torque, and a plastic bed. That's my favorite line.First - By saying that you are the first, is there a line of people who are now going to say that they are sick of their GT? I love my GT.Second - if you had a "need for speed", may I suggest the next time you go to purchase an automobile, you may want to find a dealer that offers this thing called a "test drive". That way you can actually try out the car BEFORE bringing it home. It's the latest rage!People, People - the vibe is not a sports car (like the above mentioned 350Z). It is a wagon (or whatever you want to call it). It doesn't pretend to be anything else. What attracted me to the GT was the combination of style, size, utility and (yes) driving dynamics. It was one of the only cars of this size to offer a manual transmission (which I want) - others have now come along.
Dude! Who in their right mind would buy a Vibe (base model or any other) for the power? Hello?! Didn't he test drive it first? Common sense tells ya you won't be turnin' a 1.8L into a race car! Bottom line: there are no budget sports cars. You want power, you gotta pay for it. Little pick-me-up additions CANNOT equal a real performance machine. If they could, no one would buy sports cars, they'd all supe up little 4-bangers instead. For what it is, I think the Vibe/Matrix kicks booty. It's a sporty looking ride with plenty of comfy room, huge cargo space, good gas mileage, and just enough pep to be enjoyable. I wish the aftermarket community would give the Vibe a little more attention (Heaven forbid we should have all the options offered to the Civic owners), but I still love my little car. It's been good to me. ~~Z600

Well....I gotta say it! Mr knuckles...you're a knucklehead! If you want power, you should've gone with the base engine. Then you could've added the supercharger and upped the boost (achieving more than 200whp with some tweaking), or gone with a turbo/intercooler kit (I know fellas who are getting close to 300whp with a tweaked turbo kit and other mods with their Celicas--and it's the same engine)! There are still ways (albeit expensive) to get more power out of the 2zz engine if you want it, as well!I mean jeez...what the hell were you expecting from a 1.8L? If you had wanted more power, or something that had a stronger aftermarket following, why the hell did you buy your Vibe in the first place? You should've stepped up and purchased a car with more horsepower! You should've looked at a WRX, RSX, EVO, IS300, or something along those lines! I've got probably less hp than your car, and I can smoke a stock WRX and RSX!And as far as body kits? (I guess you don't like the factory kit, eh?) RK Sport will have theirs displayed at SEMA, along with Fox Marketing's kit, and as mentioned, psychovibe will have his ready by the first of the year, and all have had images of what they will look like posted on this site (do a search!). But I'm assuming you didn't like any of them, right? And let's not forget about handling! With my Hotchkis setup (springs, sway bars, and strut tower brace), and even running on 19" tires and wheels (would've probably done better running on 18's), this car went from 65mph through a 600-ft slalom to 72mph. that's faster than any of those other cars I mentioned (WRX,RSX, EVO, IS300), and faster than any Porsche, Corvette, and almost every Ferrari (except maybe an Enzo). In fact, Hotchkis said it was the second fastest car they've ever tested through the slalom (the fastest was their fully race-preped Celica)!!!!Now, I bought my Vibe for most of the same reasons as joatman did. After my last "project car", a `94 Mustang convertible with over 650whp (featured 5-times in Turbo magazine, and was on the cover of the July `95 10th anniversary issue), I must say that it's not as fast as that car was, but it turns just as many heads on the street, and I'm getting much better than 8mpg that that car got (I'm averaging 25-27mpg even with my heavy right foot)!!! I've also got almost as much space to haul stuff in as my `99 Suburban big-block 4x4 had, but again, better gas mileage than 7mpg with that beast!Again, if you had wanted something with more power, or a larger aftermarket following, why the hell did you buy a Vibe? You should've bought a Honda, and done an engine swap, or any of the other cars I mentioned above, or maybe something with a V8.Bottomline? The demographics of Vibe owners are older and a more mature audience that bought their Vibes for more practical reasons than what you've stated, and the aftermarket knows it (that's why there's not a strong following for this vehicle, although, it seems to be getting better with enthusiast websites like this, and guys like me writing articles in magazines on what you can do to Vibes). You seem to have bought your Vibe for the wrong reasons (obviously you did not do your homework in researching cars for your reasons to purchase), and are now crying about it.I'm sorry, but you'll get no sympathy from me!

Here Here. Well said.We got our Vibe specifically to promote this carWe being part of the TEN total Vibes distributed by GM just for designing new parts for production and to be shown at SEMA. There are to be many new parts out there this year at SEMA so hopefully this will be a good year after all. There are many parts as Ballrub mentioned for the celica, but you need to do your own research for these parts and look at the celica sites as well to see what is possible. This is how this and all the other sites work. All working together to help further the possibilities of what we ALL can do with our cars.GENVIBE is a great pool of knowledge and everyone has their own ideas. If you don't like it, don't read it just move on to the next post for something else to read. NOW QUIT COMPLAINING!!!!

I don't think his main emphasis was on speed and power I think he was just saying in general there are hardly any parts out for the Vibe that make it unique from all the other's without spending a fortune on custom sh*t. I think he's talkin like headers that actually give you power, cams, or maybe some of the things that are out for the matrix but not Vibe like taillights and hoods. I'm disappointed in that too, and I've had my Vibe since 2002, so I've been patiently waiting for about 2 and a half years for this sh*t to happen...but I love how I get looks in my baby and I don't even have tint or custom wheels...all I have is exhaust, CAI, the grills and a few other small things that people notice and that is enough to get them to turn their heads in interest.I was literally laughing when you said "something that atleast gets looks other then what the hell is that thing" because I ALLWAYS here people murmur when I drive by... "what the hell kind of car is that???" Since I took of the badges. But that's the best part of owning a Vibe, it is pretty much the last car anyone would expect to see "tricked out". So people like it. I allways see modified Z's, WRX's, and S2000...yeah they are great but people expect to see those kind of cars fixed up, whereas a Vibe is more special (350zs are my favorite cars but shhhhh don't tell my Vibe that) lol.
So around 90 mph in the 1/8th? Cool. I should take mine sometime. As for happiness with my Vibe...I knew what I was getting, and this is what I wanted. I give a big thumbs up to the responses in this thread; they're really all you need to know. If you were looking for extreme power, you bought the wrong car.
Coming from a '93 Ford Probe with 160 Hp, I think the Vibe definitely has more pep. While I miss the low-to-the ground confined cockpit and huge hatchback, I still couldn't give up the Vibe.Couldn't give up the Vibe for anything else on the street today, that's for sure. Not for what I could afford.

im kinda dissapointed in the vibe a little as well.i just wish it had a little more stuff bodywise available like the matrix .. i still love 'er though.
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!
Yeah, I don't really worry about any parts coming out because it takes me about two months to get $200 saved up...making it really hard to get the parts on my list lol. I've been lucky so far getting stuff cheaper than MSRP
WOW!! you went about buying a car all wrong if you wanted speed and power and body kits. this tells me (my opinion mind you) that:1. your a person in their 20s 2. you have just bought your first car3. you don't have a job that pays you enough to buy a REAL sports car4. you watch too much "california, need for speed" T.V. I bought a vibe for power. there's an oxymoron..... kind of like jumbo shrimp.I'm happy with my base vibe, I can haul (removed) down the interstate hit the o/d button and pass all kinds of people. the car handles great and I can take on ramps at 60+. as for body kits. lower your vibe, it looks great and you will think twice about body kits cause you'll hit the ground on every bump with a body kit. and from what another member has said the roads in NJ suck. enjoy what you got, pay it off, then trade it in for that new Fast, Powerful car that you want and be ready to pay big $$$ cause, you want power and that cost money and once you have that power it won't be enough
First and foremost, i dont want nor need the sympathay of anyone. I bought this car cause i was loyal to pontiac (Grand am GT "96"and "98" ). i have the money so dont presume that i cant afford anything better and frankly this was a goodbye to everyone but somepeople decided to say stuff. i bought the car cause i thought that i would be able to do something with it seeing as how it was a toyota at heart. but i guess no one reallly stopped to think about that because everyone was too busy telling me that they bought their car because of the great mileage. i not only test drove the car but i knew more about this car form before any of you even heard of it. i liked the power but i thought an improvement would be made bye now because i had hope but my patients wore thin. my venting really struck a cord with some of u hardcore vibe guys/girls and im sorry but just cause u can reply back doesnt mean u alway should. So...since i paid my respects and you all spat it back... you guys/girls could go f urselves P.S. if anyone has a problem and wants to reply make sure to leave ur name number and adress so i could take it up with u in person cause plenty of people can talk the talk but when push comes to shove everyone falls down
you're probably right about knowing about the car before I did. I stumbled across it at a dealer one day, having never heard about it at all before. I was in need of a commuter car, I rack up a bunch of miles, and yes, mileage was pretty important to me, but I'm 6'4", my sons are about the same height (one is taller, the punk ) so headroom in all of the seats was a factor. I don't understand why GM/Pontiac doesn't push these cars more, maybe they are selling at about the rate NUMMI can make them. The dealer, (a chevy/buick/pontiac/gmc combo) was trying to steer me into a bigass buick when I first saw the Vibe and went over to see what it was.Anyway, like I said before, I hope you find a car you like better, and when you said "i have the money" well, yes, I admit I am envious of that part. Good luck, and sorry about the piling on.
1. nobody SPAT back this is a forum and others (including me) were just voicing opinions.2. this is the Internet what do you plan on doing to those that don't think your way find out where they live and go beat them up 3. maybe it was you who shouldn't have said all the things you did, maybe "my vibe wasn't what i thought it would be" would have been enough4. as for hardcore, cars are commoditys to be bought and sold, and anyone who bought one to drive forever was fooling themselves.4. if i could f myself I would never go outside again. bye
Hey buddy back off alright? Jees, you come here and trash the car and don't expect this type of reaction? Then you tell us to go F ourselves?? Ok, whatever sorry the car sucked for you, good luck with your projects and exit gracefully........

Awwww...you only have like 6 posts anyways, what did you do, just join the forum to tell everyone you don't like the car anymore or what?!?! I understood what you were saying just fine and I respect how you feel, I feel some of the same things, but you don't have to get defensive and threaten everyone. I'm asuming you arn't in middle school anymore, sometimes beating up the bad guy just isn't COOL anymore you know what I'm sayin?

You posted this thread whining about "nobody's got any go fast parts for my car, when if you took the time to search through posts on this and other Matrix/Vibe websites, you would have discovered there are "go fast" parts for our Vibes! I guess I shouldv'e mentioned that the main reason I bought my Vibe back in July`03 along with the other reasons joatman quoted, was the fact that no one had tricked one out yet, I like to try and do project vehicles that not too many other people do. As somebody that has been in the aftermarket business for over 30 years, and has built over 100 "project vehicles" for numerous manufacturers for both SEMA and CES, I welcome a challenge, and liked the idea of tricking out the Vibe, because no one else had addressed it yet. At least out here on the west coast, Vibes are outnumbered by Matrix's by about 10-to-1.Nobody here told you to "f/o", and so on that note, I do take issue. That was not necessary, and shows an immature side of you that I don't "kinder" to. I'm sure soon after SEMA there will be many new parts. GM distributed 10 New Vibes for the development of new parts this year. So I'm sure that soon after the first of the year there will be many new parts. Many of us will have pics of the cars from the show and I know I will be trying to make as many contacts with the people with the cars to find out where to get these parts for all of us here to be able to get them.
