Customer Incentatives

Does anyone know all the incentatives I should get when buying a Vibe? Other than, Loyalty rebate, & Customer Cash Rebate, what else is there? What is this power package rebate/discount? How much do you get off the whole price of the car? Also if you buy a car, Will they pay tag, tax, and title? Or is this all a deal of bargaining with them? SOrry to ask SO many questions but your help is greatly appreciatied!!

Any sort of package discount should show up on the sticker. When I bought mine, the tax was figured before the rebate. Tax/tags/title was extra for me. MD tax on cars is 5%, tags/title was about $100 or so, can't remember exactly, depends on local gov't, so it would be different for OK. How much you can deal with them depends on how well the cars are selling. Sounds like it would be hard to work a deal in Canada, where a lot of folks reported having long waits and mass Vibe shortages. You've also got some amount of negotiating room if you've got a vehicle to trade in. There's a link for current incentives on the pontiac.com web site, but I don't know how current it is. I think you get a choice of rebate or low rate financing, but not both.

well title transfer here, is VERY expensive, the newer the car, the more the price, plus the tag for it here will be around or over $1000!

I have NEVER heard of a dealer paying tax/plate/title expenses.Good luck finding that.Incentives are constantly changing. You can get a list of currently running GM National Incentives here: http://pontiac.com/currentoffers/index. ... =home#vibe

So it would be cheaper (monthly payment wise) to go with the 0% financing for 60 months then to get the rebates? Thanks for your help so far guys!

The dealer you go to should be able to plug numbers into a program and tell you what purchase plan is the best avenue for the best deal...

For example, my credit union has 3.9% right now on new cars. taking 0% was a big mistake. It still hurts me to see my remaining balence on the Vibe

No I didn't get confused, I've spent soo much time on payment calculators! I have a feeling I will end up a car salesman since I love them so much.. I don't turn 18 until November (Im the young one on the forum..) so my parents will have to take the loan out for me like they did my Sunfire. Or If I want to wait til November my grandparents will give me 12k for a college car I was going to use as a down payment. I was wanting to go ahead and buy a 20k Vibe I like and make the payments until November and THEN put all that money down onto the car loan. I want my car payment to be as cheap as possible after the down payment so It will be easier for me when I move out..

I saved up a lot and made a large down payment so I have small monthly payments. I'm a college student, so you know how we have to watch our spending.When getting the loan, you should get the loan under your name and have your parents co-sign. If you are not the primary applicant, you will not receive any credit which you will definitley need in your future. It's always hard when starting out on your credit, but you have to start some where. Do you have a credit union?

I agree with JustinVGT. It's better to have your parents cosign so you can build credit. You want good credit history to start. It's difficult to get a better loan rate/approval/anything without a good credit history. Most creditors look for a min of 2 yrs history. it's more difficult to get credit when you're young since most have a hard time repaying loans and making timely payments. your credit history stays with you for 7 yrs, 10 yrs for bankruptcy. my advise: if you want the car now, get it now while they have great rebates. I would take the cash over the financing right now. then when you turn 18 in November, go to your local credit union and refinance your car with a lower rate and a huge down payment. I wouldn't put the whole $12K down, maybe $10K and then set up an auto pay to withdraw the payments from an acct the remainder $2K sits. Then you know you have atleast 1 yr of payments that you do not need to stress over.so, you take the rebates (approx $2K) on a $20K car. That gives you $18K to finance plus Dealer Doc fees and tax. You may qualify for the GM Grad program. I would send your submission in with that ASAP since it takes a few wks to get your certificate. if you qualify, you can defer your payments for 90 days. Your first payment will be high, but that's 90 days you have to cough up the cash. if not, then you still have up to 45 days to make that first one. then on your birthday, trot down to the credit union and refinance with your big down payment. make sure you have a job that can support your payments because they will verify income. If you don;t have money to repay the loan, they won't give you a loan, even with $10K cash!

Im thinking we do here, or somewhere close. I want to be moved out by the first of 04' and with 200 car payments it wont be an option! But I definantly want to get rid of my Sunfire for a Vibe when I move out.

It all depends on whether my Sunfire sells or not I guess. I like the monotone look though, That would be my choice

Yeah, I think some colors look better two tone, and other better montone. I think Lava is prettier monotone, but saw this one was in OK, and thought I'd give you a heads up. Hope you're vibing soon ...

Yeah I've spent plenty of time on Edmunds and their calculators..My parents aren't really happy about me trying to get a brand new one, They would rather I get a cheaper used. Problem is, You can't find a used one here.

The used car dealers talk about how much you lose on a new car the minute you drive it off the lot. What they don't tell you is that you also lose a lot when you drive a used car off the lot. Dealers make maybe $500 on a new car; they aim to make $1500 on a used car. 20 cents a mile is a low depreciation figure on a used car. So 25,000 miles is equivalent to $5,000 minimum. And you will soon need front brake pads, a tune-up, and then tires at 40,000 miles. Do da math! New Vibe $17-18,000 max; Used with 25,000 mi ought to be $12-13,000 max. Hard to find for less than $15,000. New car financing is lower % apr as well. $200 a month - peanuts. Get a 2nd job.

Yeah, but he's still making payments on the Sunfire. With the anticipated >$10K windfall this fall, he may be able to upgrade to a Vibe and have smaller payments. It may be prudent instead to use the windfall to pay off the sunfire, bank the rest, and go with that for a while to see what wonders the car makers come up with.The car that got me through college was more rust and bondo than steel.

$371 a month would be my payment on a brand new one. I can make that. I will have smaller to no payments at all after I turn 18. I guess it all depends on IF my Sunfire sells, I've put it on Ebay though.

Yup. I've sold one car already off Ebay. As long as I get it paid off then I don't care.
