Ingen Install on Vibe GT

Post by retiredfields »

Well after 4 hours, I finally realized that my new Injen CAI wasn't going to fit. When you try and line up the Vibra mount, the end that mates to the throttle opening is a good 25 degress off and is too long. It either looks like the piece wasn't bent properly, or maybe they put the Base Vibe version in a GT box. Can anyone tell me what part number is on their actual intake piece and whether it is installed on a Base or GT? The number on my intake piece is 476-3, although the box shows the correct part number RD2075P.So much for Injen quality!!!!!!!!!!!

The Injen intake for the GT was really designed for the Matrix XRS and it is slightly off at the vibra-mount. I believe you must install it on the throttle body first and them bolt it to the car. Do a search for CAI Install and you will read a few threads on this problem/subject.

First off, welcome (although it looks like you've been here a bit, I missed your first few posts). Good to see a Wyoming member signed up at last! Second, this seems to be a problem for a lot of people. I had great difficulty with mine as well, but it did go in. The good news, your part numbers are correct, at least assuming I have the right one under my hood. It just takes some wiggling to get it in. I wound up putting the filter-end through first and shoving it down the hole all the way to the first bend. Then, pulled it back out while laying it into position. From there it was twisting the tube around and bending at the vibramount to get it in the mounting foot. Once that was settled, it too a bit of force to bring the end over to the throttlebody. One tip. Put the silicone tube on the throttlebody neck first. Not the intake. It makes it much easier. Or, you can always try member Dmitri's trick. He drilled a new hole for the vibra-mount. I guess either one works. Here's another thread on the issue.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4691

lol yea i had the same problem. What i did on my friends was just push...itll go in, trust me, itll just take a while and some force (nothing will break). But on mine for some reason the holes didnt line up or maybe they welded it in the wrong spot because ive installed 2 CAI's on vibes before and it was never like this. I just redrilled the hole and was fine.

The end of the CAI is about 25 degrees off being square with the end of the throttle body, not even close. Is everyone's like that?I can get it on the silicone tube, but because of the angle, the top part of the tube doesn't even cover the ridge on the CAI.I am usually pretty handy, but this one just doesn't seem right.

Mine was quite a bit off (not sure if was quite that much). With a little force, it did pop into place though. You may well end up having to drill a new hole for the vibramount. That would be weird to hear of two people having to do so though.

Well, I've looked at pics of three other GT installs and my tube looks different on the throttle end. I assume the Base Vibe tube is slightly different, since it has a different part number. From the pics, it looks like I have a Base Vibe tube. I called Injen and they said to ship it to them for inspection, so we'll see what happens. Adventon was not very helpful. Gave me Injen's phone number and said go call them. Thanks for the replies. It was a frustrating day, to say the least.
