cia install ?'s

Post by mrgrn »

i installed my injen in my gt tonight, whew. First, the part that goes to the throttle body went in just a tad crooked, is that ok?Next, there is a sound like a valve closing when i tap the gas and it goes down to like 100 rpms, is that ok?also there is a brownish plug left unplugged, is that cool? One thing i don't like is i used to have a deeper sound from my exhaust when i let of the gas at around 4000 rpms, and now it is quieter, why? maybe before is was gasping for air?I also noticed that at 6000 rpms it has a screaming howl from the intake or the engine, is that cool or what? The end verdict is that i dislike the missing vrooom when i let of on the gas, but i like the screaming engine noise when i give it the gas. Thanks for any help.

In short, yes, yes and yes. It's all good. The sound when you let off the gas is weird, but mine does it as well. You'll also notice a sustained hiss when you first start the car until the engine is warm. As for the throttle body portion, I had the same problem and from the discussions I've been in, many others have as well. The plug should remain unplugged. It was for the front VSV that is no longer used.As for the decreased exhaust sound, couldn't tell you. That much I haven't noticed. The sound of this thing is incredible, I agree!! The only thing I hate is that hiss for the first few minutes until the engine warms up. Makes it sound like there's something terribly wrong with the car. Oh well. It's completely worth it!!

I have a base model, I thought there was something wrong with my car for the longest time because of that noise...but unless the windows are open, I don't really notice it...

If you still have the brown thing hanging you might have forgotten to put the cap on the vacuum on the throttle body. Did you remember that part? I just took the brown hose out its sitting in my garage somewhere lol

Yea, if you follow the vacuum line, it goes to the throttle body.

Right, but what I'm saying is that the power lead doesn't come out. It's a part of the overall wiring harness as far as I can tell. I removed the VSV and all the vacuum lines and plugged the port on the throttlebody.

It is a brownish electric type plug, male end. I think it is left unplugged right?
