We have been having conversations with the Vibe teams at Pontiac and NUMMI about doing a Vibe Owner Rally/Homecoming May 30, June 6,13 or 20 2003. The rally would involve a tour of NUMMI during the day possibly followed by a supercharger 'Ride and Drive' event. There would also be a BBQ or some similar type of event in the evening. Here's where you can help. NUMMI is located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Is this a good location? What date is best? The days listed above are Fridays. If there was a fee to cover insurance for the supercharger ride and drive, what would you pay - $0, $10, $25? Ideally we would like to see at least 75 Vibe owners and their cars. What do you think is a reasonable number of attendees? This event would be a great chance to meet and hang out with the folks responsible for the Vibe - the marketing team, the engineers, the line workers and most importantly other Vibe owners.Sound like a good idea. Chime in now and we can make this happen. - Mike
This sounds great. I have always liked when companies take initiative to familiarize themselves with the public through workshops and tours. I would love to take a SC Vibe for a spin, but there is no way I'll pay $25 for it. I guess the insurance price should be based on the place its driven. Closed track, Parking lot, ect.
Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others have labored hard for.
Great idea, but the 2800 miles of road between the event and I is a little too much. LoL I wouldnt pay to take a S/C Vibe for a cruise, unless it was a GT so there would be more of a difference over my current GT, which it isnt, so..... Great idea for the west coast peeps, though. Maybe a East coast would be next year?

quote:Well they want the Vibe owner to tour the Nummi plant, I think it would be hard to move it to the East Coast!!!Frosty pulls on his Kevlar and asbestos suit as he anticipates flames... However, if an Easterner wanted to tour a state of the art facility that builds cool sport wagons, there is one in Cambridge that builds the Toyota Matrix. The technology should be relatively similar, both are Toyota plants.

quote:I'd be interested if there was a rally on the east coast or at least within an 6 or 8 hour drive. The factory is located in Fremont, CALIFORNIA. It would be pretty hard to have a factory tour on the east coast if there is no factory there. However, I suppose its possible for Pontiac to plan a "gathering" event and bring some prototypes for display. This event could be held at some local east coast race track, and let people demo the prototype.
Indeed it would be interesting to have a simlar event and tour the Cambridge, Ontario Toyota plant. Frankly, it was the Toyota "guts" that really sold me on the Vibe. The Toyota driveline plus the Pontiac style make the Vibe a winner in my books. Anywow, now not only do I feel discriminated against as a Canadian but we can now add the sin of being an Easterner. Whoopee!

I won't be able to make a west coast or an east coast event. But if they should ever do a Midwest, say Kansas City Vibe event, then I'd sign up in a flash.KSNeptune
I would love to ga as well but it's too far to drive.

If you planned this event to be on a saturday, there would probably be more people. Considering the "low" interest on this board and others - I doubt 70 Vibe owners would be possible. However, if you count guests (assume each owner will bring at least one guest - then all you need is about 35 owners)Who exactly do you mean by "we have been talking with Pontiac and Nummi"?

I'm in! but it is because i am about 5 hours away, would be fun.... and yes , I will pay to drive the SC car ...would love to tour the plant , and meet some of you guys...its all good

Sounds like a great idea. I live in Santa Cruz and the trip to San Fansico would be no problem. I would love to see what other owners have done with their vibes.
I would love to go but it is WAY too far.. if there was something in the ast coast withing a 8 hour drive I would completely go for it..I am very curious about the SC
