Yesterday, I wnet to my dealer for the 1st oil change. Everywhere in the service dept, it is written: oil change, new filter + 15 points inspection for $29,95 (cdn). I got very surprise when the service rep. give me a $61,27 invoice. He was as surprise as me!!!! He told me: " Did you know the oil filter itself is "only" $29,95 (about $20 USD). As it was 8:00pm and all pieces rep and manager was gone, he told me he will double check in am and asked me to call him back for detail and, if necessary, a credit.I'm gonna call the Toyota service dept. and ask them how much for an oil filter and how much for an oil change.
Yeah, something is up here. I pay the $23.99 USD (or somewhere around that) at the dealer.. and that is what is advertised. Nothing more. Paying double the listed price is not normal.
The service rep. called me back. HE told me thye made a mistake and they put a Toyota filter instead of the GM one. I have been credited and my oil change cost me $29,95 instead of $53. Much better. But I'm still wondering why GM charge $29,55 for the Toyota filter when Toyota charge $7.
That is odd considering that GM buys the filters from Toyota and puts there own label on it. GM dealers charge around $15.00 for the filter for the GT. I went to a Toyota dealer and asked for the filter for a Matrix XRS. I bought 5 of them for $4.50 each.

Your service dept. is a scuzzy scam artist. I'll bet they overcharge ALL service and repairs, with lame excuse like "$29 filter" if the customer notices. Most customers think they MUST PAY, just to be able to drive their car home, and with no "higher level" people to complain to around after 5:00. The same thing happened to me once several years ago at a Nissan Dealership. I go to pick up my truck after 5:00 only to find out that my oil change, radiator flush, and lube is gonna cost me $450. I had only really taken the truck in to get a defective horn switch and broken rear tail light fixed. They fixed neither of those things. I HAD to pay them in order to drive the truck home. I eventually sued. The dealership settled. The paper wrote it up, and about 500 people wrote in to say that they too had been screwed by this dealership. It soon closed. You were right to complain, and lucky to get a credit. But follow up to make sure they actually DO credit you. I suggest getting your oil changed elsewhere from now on.KSNeptune
My invoice have been $0 so far and I've done four oil changes. My Dealer has been doing the oil changes on my Vibe for free. According to them it's for free lifetime of the car; and I don't even have the extended warranty. Only thing I have to pay for are the "scheduled tune-ups". Like the 15k tuneup for example which is supposed to cost around $200 bucks. I wonder if I skip their 15K service If they will continue to do the oil changes for free after that. Anyone else getting theirs free?

They give you free oil change at the condition you follow the schedule.
Acura dealership does that down here too. They pay for the inexpensive oil change and you pay for the expensive maitainance It's still a good deal considering most people have to pay for it all.
Abyss Monotone GT, 6 speed, Moon & Tunes, Power Group, and 16" Alloys. Soon you can see my Vibe GT at Shadowrealm's car pics but for now it is under construction!
I went to Toyota on Hochelaga street....for the oil Change, and it was at that price, You can do the same for your car, as warranty is not violated in a case like this, and it cheaper!

Anyone else getting theirs free? What is the 15k "scheduled tune-up"? It is not call out in the manual. The manual says at 15k, only these should be done:1. Change engine oil and filter (or every 12 months, whichever occurs first). An Emission Control Service.2. Lubricate chassis components (or every 12 months, whichever occurs first).(See footnote #.)3. Replace passenger compartment air filter.4. Rotate tires. See “Tire Inspection and Rotation†in the Index for properrotation pattern and additional information. (See footnote +.)I have been quoted for around $80 for the 15k service not $200.Be careful, a lot of dealers have a separate list which consists of unnecessary tune up works and checks that will cost you hundreds of dollars. Just follow your manual.

Just follow your manual. Some dealer creater their own mainteneace schedule. With my Montana, the dealer gave me their maintenence schedule. The time frame or milage on the dealer schedule was about 50% smaller then the schedule in the owener manual. As an exemple, for the engine coolant, the dealer suggest a change every 2 years or 40 000km (25 000 miles) and the owner manual sez 5 years or 140 000km (87 000 miles).
$80 seems reasonable for me to pay given that the oil changes have been free. The $200 price was what the service tech TOLD me it will be next time I take my car in. I just emailed them asking what is involved in the 15k service and how much. Hopefully they will come back with a better price in writing.
Here's what the dealer emailed me on the 15k service. Is this a joke or what? Remove all the bells and whistles (all the "check" and "inspect") and you're left with a very high priced oil change. I doubt the air filter needs to be replaced this soon. Do customers actually fall for ripoffs like these? I can see clearly now what the free oil changes lead to. I already do my own maintenance on my truck and motorcycle...now I'll have to add the wife's vibe on the list because I refuse to pay $220 for an oil change.15/45K Service $219.95 Replace engine oil & filter Rotate and balance tires Check and adjust tire pressure Check and fill all fluids to proper level Lube steering linkage Check and clean battery connections Inspect drive belts Inspect cabin air filter Replace engine air filter Inspect brake linings, discs/drums Inspect ball joints and dust covers Engine oil flush Perform complete service inspection Check all lights and accessories Road test Wash vehicle
....Engine oil flush Perform complete service inspection Check all lights and accessories Road test Wash vehicle ......Boy, now those things sure add value! Ok, maybe $5 for the wash. That big long list is just to fool customers into thinking they are getting more for their money than they really are.In PA, we have to get an annual safety inspection where they look at most of that list anyway. You can get the inspection done for like $10 so the garage can get a crack at selling you repairs, whether you need'em or not!

I just go to midas, they charge $19.95 i think for a full oil change, includes a filter, up to 5 qt of oil, fluid checks, and safety checks. the dealer is a ripoff. and since their track record with me is not a good one, i don't go to them for non-warranty repairs.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
