New board, new poster

Post by johnz »

Hey guys,

This is my first post but I've been to this board before to find info and it has already been so useful (especially for regaining AM reception after putting in an aftermarket stereo head unit).

I bought an 05 vibe base 5 speed back in February with about 87k miles on it. Haven't really done anything with it yet other than basic maintenance. Did put in a new battery and the stereo change I mentioned before, oh yeah and cleaned the MAF sensor which brought the idle down to a round 800 rpms.

The car came with Continental tires in the front that just don't do that well when it's wet outside. Anyone have suggestions for good all season tires that grip better in the rain? I forget the exact model name for these tires but will post that in a bit

Anyways, just from reading threads this seems to be such a good forum with a lot of good information, thanks!

Oh yeah... some pictures!

Welcome to the party! And pictures on your first post! Nice!

Great looking ride. Same color as our 2010.

We're barely out of the wrapper, too, to just a welcome for now. I'm still learning. :D

Welcome and nice looking car! Looks just like my son's did, before we got the 17" Vibe wheels for it. I see the wheels are rusting like ours did, :x one of the reasons for the upgrade.

Enjoy your stay and good luck with the car!

you should see the tailpipe it has to use :P

But actually, it is just a dash blank that came with the car, and was on there. Will probably pop take it off at some point.

Thanks for the warm welcome, all.

Bah-hahaha! I asked for it.

It's weird that it's a blank, it looks like it has depth. Like a mount for something. Could you take a closer pic? I'm fascinated, for some reason.
The hole in that head unit cover is a horizontal shape with rounded corners for the passenger airbag status. That looks like a black square with a round center of some sort. Brandon (A Psycho Martyr) made awesome new blanks with the word "Vibe" that lights up red. He brought me a custom one at the Indy meet that said "Ludicrous Speed." Found out I have the two-bulb deal from 2006-2008 that only lights up half the area at a time, as opposed to the the one bulb deal in the 2003-2004s.

Yeah, it's strange I've never seen anything like it. It does protrude out a bit, you could stick a CD on it through the hole. Could have possibly been used to mount a device or something and then just never removed.

Ill take and post a close up when I get access to a camera again.
