I have a JL Audio Poweredge with two 10" subs and an attatched amp that I would like to connect to my in dash stock cd changer. Does anyone know if you can do this? Any help would be appreciated.

i say leave the radio in and just add what you have to it, and if later you dont like it then replace it..if you have a nice amp the radio source doesnt matter its the amp that produce the actual sound the radio just gives it signal.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=570
Thanks for the tips everyone. My goal is to stay with the stock head unit if possible. Like sharky said, the radio just produces the signal, the amp does the work. And I know that the amp can drive those speakers because I had it in my last car. I did have an Eclipse head unit in there but all that offers is more control over the amp and sub without changing the gain on the amp. I think all I will have to do is set the gain right and I should be all set. I have a friend who has set up multiple audio systems in cars and he said it should be no problem. Let me know what you guys think though.

i take it your amp most have a built in crossover in it if your just hooking it up to subs? The gain on the amps is messing with the actual watts going to the sub, where a crossover or equalizer can add or remove the highs, mids, lows. With out a crossover or equalizer you could send highs to your sub and that will destroy your speakers.
I believe it does. I did not have an EQ in my last car and the sound they put out was great. I will definately check for the crossover when I get home, but my friend said that he remembers seeing a switch on it and I had those subs in my last car for 3 years and they sounded really good and I never had anything happen to them. I am sure that it does have a crossover but I will take a look to confirm that. Thanks sharky!

coolI looked at the factory amp yesterday, there are no settings to adjust on it. But im sure if we knew which wires went where you could wire up a better amp. Just need a wire diagram or take all the panels off.

HmmmI'll look tomorrow when its day light out. But the one on the passanger side is bigger then the one under the driver side. plus it has the same shape and horizontal aluminum fins like amps.
