DVD Reciever for VIBE!

Post by Lancer »

Check out http://www.crutchfield.com. Search any audio/video toys for the Vibe. After I mod out my Vibe I'll get the DVD/CD-R/MP3 reciever with the 7' motorized monitor (like in The Fast in Furious) for the icing on my cake.Too bad it'll take me over a year to save up for it.

Y eah I was actually looking at that Clarion DVD player in my current Cructhfield catalog. I'm waiting for a price reduction though. Right now I would rather spend 2k on that supercharger or what ever else will become available soon

Has anyone pulled out the DVD Navigation system and looked to see if it has any open A/V ports in the back? It would be great if it did, then you could just get a mini DVD player and wire it into the Nav system and voila, not as big as an expense for a whole system.By the way, yank dini, that Clarion DVD system is bad! If I can't get something to work with the Nav system then I am going to get that I think, not sure yet. May go with the overhead console screen and put the DVD player itself in the middle console.

I've got the Metra stereo mount kit with the small storage bin under the 1 din radio, and I was wondering if I could fabricate a tray/drawer type assembly to hold a 5.6" video screen that could be pulled out and flipped up in place of the storage bin. Just a thought. I didn't order mine with the nav system, but it sure would be nice for those of you who have it be able to use that nice in-dash screen for a video display. Later,Carl

That looks like a good unit that you are going with. The ones that I have been looking at do not have the tv tuner built-in with the player. I'm not sure that I would use it but would be sort of nice. I looked last night and I think that I am going to order an overhead 7" console screen and probably go with the dvd player in the middle console, looks like it will be the easiest place to put it and be able to hide it.cohocarl, let me know how you like that player, size, etc.

quote:cohocarl, let me know how you like that player, size, etc.According to the ups tracking info, it should be delivered Friday. There are amazingly quite a few different dvd/vcd/mp3 players you can get, some with a tv tuner, some w/o. There's quite a few listed on E-bay: http://listings.ebay.com/aw/plistings/l ... audVidNavI have been researching the different models, and this one seemed to have the features what I wanted, and the price was decent. (just hope the seller is decent also)I also plan on taking some decent digital photos of my stereo and speaker installation step by step and make a little "how to" page. Will post when it's done. You have been looking at putting a 7" flip-down screen in? I was also thinking of that, but thought the 7 inch would be a little wide to fit on the "hump" on the headliner between the visors without overhanging. The Power Acoustik flip-downs seen to have a nice, clean design. I think I'll have to stick to a 5.6" if I go that route due to $$. [Modified by cohocarl, 12:07 AM 8/22/2002]

Thanks for the link that you sent me, I am going to try and order my flip-down screen and dvd player sometime in the next two weeks. I was going to try and integrate it with the Nav System but I don't think that I will be able to do it without messing up the Nav System so I'm just going to leave it alone. Let us know when you get that "How-to" done, I'm sure that a lot of people would like it. I will try to take some pictures of my install as I am doing it so maybe I can help anyone that is considering the same setup as mine.
