How many weeks to receive an factory ordered Pontiac Vibe?

Some thoughts.....1) Ordered our Neptune Vibe (Safety package, premium sound) March 17. Was built week of July 4. Arrived in our driveway July 27.Have been told that orders are now taking even a little longer. Our dealer had 9 "build spots" allocated in March. We reserved one of these then "tweaked" the options to get exactly what we wanted.2) Canada VS. USAMy bet is more are going to the US as they make more money selling in the USA. Compare US Base Price with Canadian Base price and do the currency conversion. We "should" be paying about $2000 more in Canada but we aren't. Hence, sell the cars in the US, make more money.Cheers

I ordered mine on august 26th.Dealer told me should have mine in about 2-3 month.Not sure if it gonna be able to have it in that time window.Dealer told me I should have it by the end of the year.....I won`t count on that....I`ll keep you updated.

Ben: Welcome to my sad painful world. At least you knew in advance that you would have a looooooong wait. I was told 6 weeks Anyway, for the record Ben, what did you order with respect to Model, tranny, options. There were restrictions on 5 speeds and ABS when I ordered mine which didn't help. Yikes, your dealer sounds pretty optimistic. I ordered my Vibe on June 27. The dealer at the time figured it would be a 2-3 month wait. I figured it would be more like 4-6. I called a dealer 2 weeks ago to see what the wait would be if I ordered now. Answer 6-8 months! OUCH!Now someone mentioned in another post that Vibe production had been increaed at the Nummi plant, but I haven't seen anything that backs that up.I just called GMDrive to get an update...My order isn't preferenced for what ever reason. (me thinks that this preferenced stuff is just a bunch of B.S.). Anyhow, the order desk figured it would be another 1-2 months which is pretty much what I expected...

On Aug 23, I ordered a base, automatic, mono Lava, 16" aluminum, power package, side airbags, ABS. Dealer called back last week, said ABS on the base is on restriction. Anticipate 4-6 month hold. Possibly good web site is http://www.donlen.com/Whats_New/new_pro ... rs_gm.html which has anticipated lead times for GM cars. Vibe is on the bottom line. It's only updated once/month, so the new restriction on ABS isn't noted. By the time mine arrives, the rebate ought to be so high that the car will be free! (BTW, my first three cars each took 4 months to be delivered, so this is just business as usual)

I ordered a Shadow Vibe on July 1st, and it arrived here in Michigan on August 24th. (8 weeks exactly) The only option I had was the power package. Interestingly, I replaced the stock stereo head unit, and replaced with a Panasonic unit, and the stock radio had a sticker on it with date of manufacture of 7-24-02 in Indiana (or IL.?) My stock radio has alot of miles on it in 1 month....I was getting impatient with only an 8 week wait, I do honestly feel sorry for those north of us who have to wait two to three times that long.

that restriction on ABS might be old news. I keep an eye on that site as well and I think this is the first month that the restriction has been removed....

There are longer waits in Canada.I ordered my vibe (base, abyss, mags, power) April 15th and just received it last Friday (!). The dealier said that there was some sort of shuffle and that we were lucky to receive our car as others will have to wait even longer! Oh well, it's worth the wait! The Vibe is one nice car - peppy, roomy, comfy and quite unique.

My dealer got the invoice for my car They expect it to arrive Sept 16 so I will have waited 21 WEEKS I won't be able to pick it up until the Friday, but regardless I only have 9 more sleeps. Wahoo! I hope this car is everything you guys have been telling me it is. Thanks, Ken.

I ordered mine on July 20 and got it on September 10 - 7 1/2 weeks.Wanted monotone satellite with slate interior plus other goodies. None was available at dealer lots so it has to be ordered.

I got mine in 2 days. Found one in dealer stock on GM's website. Took care of all the details by email, fax, and phone the first day. Dealer picked me up the next moring and drove me to the dealer to pick it up. It was the last one he had (he only got 3 from the first production run). Had it a little over 3 months now. I guess I was lucky enough to find one with the options I wanted and didn't have to wait and order one.

They updated http://www.donlen.com/Whats_New/new_pro ... rs_gm.html today. For all you ordering bases without ABS or GTs or AWDs, the wait is claimed to be 12-16 weeks. For those of us waiting for a base with ABS, the site confirms what the dealer told me a couple of weeks ago. "Antilock Brakes (JM4) are on indefinite restriction - Base Model (2SL26)" Ouch. No $1500 rebate for me.

I guess I was one of the people who got lucky. I went into my dealer on July 4th weekend, did a test drive, went home and then decided I wanted the car. I went back to the dealer 2 days later, prepared to order one, he mentioned to me that he had one scheduled to arrive on July 23.It had all the options I wanted, and I was not picky about the color, as long as it was not Envy.Got a call from the dealer on the 24th, car was in, picked it up a couple of days later.I just can't believe the long wait people are enduring. Well I ordered my VIBE May 24 and it was built Sept. 9 and shipped out on Sept. 13. I live in Montreal, Canada and it will be here the first week of October.I can't wait!!!!

Are people ordering Matrix getting the same delays over ABS?Doubt it because (in canada at least) ABS is not a stand alone option. You can only get ABS on the XRS and the AWD models. There are huge delays for XRS 6 speeds though so don't feel like all is happy for Matrix orders. There has been an auto XRS sitting at my local dealer for months now. They probably want a huge premium for it and the one Vibe GT here as well over at the pontiac dealer.

Well as long as my car doesn't fall off the truck from the railyard to the dealer, I will be picking up my Vibe on Saturday.I actually have been stalking the railyard watching for my car for the past couple of weeks, spotted it and 2 other Vibes, talked the car jockey into letting me in the yard to inspect it and take the pics below. He said in his experience the Vibes feel like a more quality machine than any GM he drives around the lots, he obviously drives all of them. Anyways here are the first shots of the only frosty I have ever seen. I will post more prettier ones later when all the goop is cleared off. It is torture to see the car sitting there for past day and a half. It better be on the trailer when I get off work tonight. Anyway everybody, thanks for listening and helping me with information about your cars to get me through these past 21.5 weeks. [Modified by Frosty, 6:58 PM 9/19/2002]

I just ordered a base Vibe: Monotone Lava with 5 spd, Power Pkg, Moons and Tunes, and ABS. My dealer tells me 6-8 weeks, but after reading this site, it sounds as if that may be some major misinformation. I certainly hope my base Vibe with ABS gets made...Will my hopes be dashed for an ontime delivery?

I'm a bit premature as we don't actually have it yet, but I ordered my base Vibe on 9/12; the dealer said the order would go to Pontiac on 9/17, and they are quoting a build week of 9/30 and a delivery week of 10/14.Note that I live in Fremont where the Vibes are built, and the dealer is in Fremont, too, so I may have a slightly lower ship time.Gettin' a Neptune base, auto, power package, 16" cast wheels, ABS/airbags. Going to up the stereo (need MP3 player inputs) and tint it.Yee-haw! I'll edit this message when the vehicle actually arrives.

The dealer placed my order 9/12 and was told that my build date was 10/21 and I should receive it the first week of November.I ordered a Neptune base 5-speed with the power package and DVD Nav.From reading the other posts in this thread, it appears that the majority if not all of the people who have the very long waits are in Canada...is that true? Has anybody in the US been told 6-8 weeks and had a 4 month wait?-- Dale

Good luck with the 3 months but it could happen because you didn't order Safety/Security, there have been restrictions on ABS. However the Allocation on 5 speeds is only 10% so you could get into a jam there. If you get your car within the 3 months you would be far better off than I was (21.5 weeks with ABS and 5 spd ordered April 24 delivered Sept 21).Ask the dealer if he is a betting man. Then tell him you need the car by 3 months and that the price decreases by $100 a week thereafter until it arrives. It would be interesting to see the reaction. Best of luck

Today's update to the Vibe production projections at http://www.donlen.com/Whats_New/new_pro ... rs_gm.html says "no restrictions" on the Vibe. I guess Toyota sent over a batch of ABS production kits. Time to call the dealer and find out if she's still predicting February.

All right people, sit right back and you'll hear a tale. I have no doubt that I'm the unofficial winner of the longest wait in history.I ordered an Abyss AWD monotone on March 15, 2002. It arrived at my dealer exactly two days ago. Count 'em up, my friends - exactly 200 days, approx. 6.5 months. I'll buy a good Canadian beer for anyone who beats that - you'll just have to come to Calgary to collect.It gets better. My salesperson was such an ******* last night when I wanted to discuss the price that hadn't been previously negotiated - and I assumed that he expected me to pay MSRP and add on a 20% tip for good service or something like that - that today, I walked into another dealership and stumbled upon an Abyss monotone GT - what I really wanted right now (I recently learned to drive standard and now I don't want to go back!). I got $1000 off the MSRP and I'm picking it up tomorrow night.THE WAIT IS OVER!!!!!

So, Frosty, your dealer didn't give you a gift !For my Vibe, I have the price of July for the car I will receive in November. I know it probably be the same I quote for... But, in January, there will probably have another raise of the price of the Vibe... I know they didn't want us to negociate on Vibes but sometimes they give us some deals like for my winter tires and mud guards.I just verified on www.gmcanada.com and the MRSP is now 20220 $ can ( 370 $ more than last week!)Bye

I have no doubt that one of the reasons my dealer was such an a**hole to me is that he ordered the car at the lower fixed price, but could turn around and sell it on the lot today for the increased price to a new customer, whereas he could only sell it to me for the MRSP listed at the time I ordered. That's about as slimy as you can get.I heartily recommend that Calgarians on GenVibe stay away from Northland Pontiac GM and take their business somewhere more deserving, like CMP Pontiac ( http://www.cmpclassic.com/) or Stampede Pontiac ( http://www.stampedepontiac.com/. Stampede salespeople will actually talk to you about dealer cost, their preferred profit margins and the like.

I called my dealer today. They told me the time window is ok and I should have it by the end of November. the car is under construction.I gave a call to GM Canada and they told me estimation built date is set to week of December 9th.......Who tells me the truth?I'd like to trust the dealer but GM is more explicit with the built date.Also, I went to the vehicule locator in the GM web site and I saw a Vibe like mine n the same dealer is ordered mine.I advised my sales rep and he will take a look at it. He told me there`s only 1 base Vibe in his lot but the other one could be ordered.He will get back to me with more details this after-noon.I hope news will be good.

Not to make the rest of you who have been waiting forever feel bad, but I ordered my base Vibe(ABS/side air bags/moons & tunes/Auto/Aluminum Wheels/Power package) on 9/9. Dealer told me it was accepted as a good order on 9/12, and I was told today that it shipped on 10/7. Dealer expects to have it by 10/21 at the latest. This would make my wait 5 1/2 to 6 weeks with ABS!Maybe I just got lucky and caught the production cycle just right.

It stretched to nearly 4 times that # of course, but I wonder if he was telling me the truth, that GM can deliver Aztecs, Montana's etc. in 5-6 weeks if all the planets are lined up. When I went in after ordering my Vibe (24/06) the dealer told me about the price increase, but asured me that they get a rebate after I buy it so I didn't need to worry about it. Neither does the dealer. GM will give them the difference between the price I ordered it at, and the price that will be on the invoice when its delivered. The dealer isn't doing you any favours, and don't believe any dealer that tells you otherwise.
