Recirculation button won't toggle

Post by satyr2k2 »

I believe my 'Recirculation' button (underneath the A/C button) in my 2006 Vibe GT has gone bad. It's a single-throw (on/off) push button that doesn't click and stay depressed when it's pressed. Basically, right now, it's acting like a momentary switch where if I press it, the LED turns on, but as soon as I let go, the button returns to it's original position and the LED turns off. It does this no matter what settings I have the air system set at. Is it possible to repair this button myself? Is the part available? How hard is it to do? I've never removed the dash before - so assume I know nothing. Thanks!

It might just need to be removed and cleaned with some electrical parts cleaner. But the part is available new, and used I'm sure. Here is a new one on ebay, there are several listed:http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACDELC...359c8Might check Toyota parts too on the price, sometimes they are cheaper. As for getting to it, I understand you just have to pull the trim panel off the car, it snaps in place, and then unplug the controls and it is probably held in place with a few screws.

Thanks for the replies- I already knew about the defrost setting- that wasn't the cause.

I'm still not sure what the issue was, but I ended up turning the the control to OFF, then hit the A/C button a few times which was still toggling, turned my system back to LO and sure enough, it started working again. Who knew /shrug
