My Dealer is making an offer

Post by ParknVibe »

My former Pontiac Dealer which is now just a Buick GMC dealer wants me to trade in my 2009 Vibe for up to 120% of the Black Book Value. They are say that their preowned cars are selling and they NEED more. They are having a "shortage" of quality pre-owned vehicles. For my Vibe in "Clean" condition $11,225 " in "Average" condition $9,975 " in "Rough" condition $7,600This was taken from a postcard I got in the mail today.I like to see their faces when I show them that it only has 7800 miles on it.Oh I forgot to say that the post card has a picture of a red 2003-2004? Vibe on it. "We want your car! During this limited time event, we will pay TOP dollar for your 2009 Pontiac Vibe.Just bring in your much needed Vibe by Saturday March 31..... If only the new Buick small Sonic based car was available now. I think the Buick Verano is their new "quiet" car. Whom of you would go for this offer?

Depends on how much you owe! Seriously, though. These postcards are going around to the entire country. I've received no less than a dozen of these between my Vibe and my wife's Malibu Maxx. So many people are buying used, the dealers are trying to spur new car sales by offering attractive "buyouts" of your current ride. They get your used car, thus having a second way to make money. You buy new, someone buys used (your Vibe). The dealer feels like a king.If you still owe a lot on your Vibe, it's not really worth it. And on the flipside, if you've had your Vibe paid off for awhile, it's still not worth it. We all know how long these cars last. Why trade having no payment and a reliable, versatile, fuel efficient car for a monthly payment on something JUST to buy something. This offer is good for people with only a year or so left on their Vibe loan, and genuinely want something new. You only a owe a few grand more, the dealer wants to give you 10 grand. 7 grand is a nice down payment on something you have your eyes on.
Steelies to the rescue.

Only if you get bored easily and are ready to move on - and I'd still want much closer to private party value. But imagine trying to go out and find a car that has that low of miles and is in as good of shape - not to mention where you know the maintenance history!

In my experience the value of low miles is never adequately recognized.A 2009 with 7,800 miles? Mine has 15,000 and that is low for 3 years.Take a look on the CarMax website and see what they are listing (no haggle pricing") for used Vibes. Your best bet if you want to sell it is to do a private sale.

Just for kicks, when I went to Carmax Toyota to get a couple of things last week, I took my Vibe and decided to get it appraised. My 2009 Vibe has 37,958 miles and it has manual everything(windows, locks, trans etc) They offered me $13,800 for it. I don't owe anything on the thing. So if I had wanted to dump the car then and there that would allow me to walk away from a car I never really drive anymore since I got the Scion and pocket a lot of money(I only paid $12,000 in the first place)So the dealer is low balling you for the price in all three catagories and I am very sure you would get the Ave price and not the clean retail

$13,800 sounds like a good deal for yours.Found a white '09 base for $12.6k - very clean with only 24k on the clock on a lot that primarily dabbles in Japanese makes. I thought I hit the jackpot until I saw it had no anything on it... I could probably live without the power stuff but I'm tired of not having cruise. Those guys just added another "similarly not-equipped" '09 with 56k and not as clean for $11.4k.I'm currently seeing a flood of these white base '09 Vibes on the market around here with nothing on them except automatic. They range from low miles up to 100,000+ -- thinking these were all company cars.

I wish I could have found an auto Vibe. I don't care about cruise control( I don't ever use it) but on the drive by wire Vibes all you need is the switch and the aid of a dremel tool for the hole the switch goes in(if that year did not have a cap that covered the hole.) or you could buy the back cover of the steering wheel with the cruise control option and install it. Basically you are looking at anywhere between $30-$150 depending upon what you choose to add CC. It is a very easy plug and play mod with no computer work needed
