"Are we geeks?"If you have to ask, you're probably already past the point of no return.Welcome to the world of an enthusiast. My friends still kid me a little when I am driving, and I rubberneck not just to check out the pretty girl on a bicycle, but to mostly look to see what kind of bike she is riding

Don't lose any sleep over it. I'm sure you know people who like things that you probably don't give a hoot about either.

Geek? No, the word is enthusiast. It's just like the bumper stickers you see:"It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand.""It's a Vibe thing, you wouldn't understand."

Euthusiast for sure! My wife thinks I'm silly with my car. But she is the same way about her Creative Memories stuff. To each his own is right!

To trully understand the word "geek" we need to define it. Main Entry: geek Pronunciation: 'gEkFunction: nounEtymology: probably from English dialect geek, geck fool, from Low German geck, from Middle Low GermanDate: 19141 : a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake2 : a person often of an intellectual bent who is disapproved of- geeky /'gE-kE/ adjective My soon to be wife thinks I'm a dork... not a geek... Especially since I have risen to the rank of "Moderator." But hey, Bill Gates and Michael Dell were geeks, and look at 'em now.

quote:"Are we geeks?"...I rubberneck not just to check out the pretty girl on a bicycle, but to mostly look to see what kind of bike she is riding Hmmm... much like this geek joke:G1: "Hey, where'd you get that great bike?"G2: "Well, this young woman rode up to me, jumped off her bike, tore off all her clothes and said: 'Take what you will!'"G1: "Good choice. The clothes probably wouldn't have fit..."

I think it's a sign of intelligence. Enjoying something to the fullest, stopping and smelling the roses, so to speak. Instead of ambling down the road of mediocrity, with a side of complacency, ending up with the dull, average masses.Nevermind, I'm rambling.

i'd rather be a car "geek" than a shoe "geek" or a "eddie bauer" geek or a "dungeon and dragons/or whatever new fantasy game" geek people get excited and interested in all sorts of stuff, ours is of a mechanical nature....i'd rather be called a gearhead or motorhead, personally..i can think of worse things to be in to!

yeah, I'm getting my springs on tomorrow. I asked my mechanic if I can help and watch since I'd like to learn. he laughed and told me I should have been a mechanic than a salesman. no, i only like to work on MY car.

Some of the guys I work with think I'm crazy because I am so infatuated with my car... I too, get excited when I see another Vibe. So I'm in the "geek" club as well and proud of it! If they don't drive a Vibe... they just don't understand.
