Color suggestions?

Post by MrHatchWagon »

Hey all,I'm considering upgrading to 17-inch wheels in the near future, and I've got my eye on RTX Turbines. My dilemma is, there are two different color schemes that I like. One of them is black, and it's really nice and all but black kind of gets lost in the wheel wells, so I've never been too partial to black on black wheels. My other option would be gold (or orange, as it's listed on the site...) Thoughts? Would they stick out too much, or just enough on my Shadow? I don't want to be tacky, but I really do like the look.

Thoughts/Opinions are free ..... so here's mine"Go with the gold/orange trimmed version of this rim. The all black ones would be too much black. Obviously these would be "summer" rims as they would be a pain to keep clean with all those slots collecting dirt & brake dust

Thanks, your input is appreciated! And with the winters we have around here and the amount of salt tossed onto the roads, I wouldn't dream of running these in the winter

Opinions... I usually hold my tongue/keyboard when gold anything is installed but as nothing's been purchased yet....NO GOLD!!!! Gold has no place on any car, they all look horrible!!!! Whether it be a Vibe, a WRX, an Escalade.... NO!!! Get the black ones, they look much better!

Get the ones you like best. Your the one that has to drive and look at it everyday. That said, I would say black. You could always photoshop it in and get an idea of how it would look before you drop the cash on it. I think the gold ones would look pretty good too. If you got the gold ones, you could always put some black vinyl strips over the gold if you wanted something different down the road. That way you could have the best of both worlds. But, I'm still not sure how it would look if that's the only gold on the car.

For what it's worth = BLACKI completely understand the "gets lost in the wheel wells" stuff, but here's how I look at it: Your mirror caps and roof rack caps are black, and those black wheels will really play off those. Especially with your cladding and paint color being moonstone/gray. Those black wheels might stand out more than you think, and look great. If you do go with the orange, I would suggest a matching (or as close as possible) orange Grafxwerks overlay for each "VIBE" badge on your front doors. That will help bring it together a bit more.

Gold! Be unique, and i think the gold would look great on your vibe because of the color

I think I'll let the idea simmer for a few weeks, and decide once the weather actually permits wheels before making up my mind. In the meantime, I'll get it all cleaned up and perhaps put in some hella horns or off-brand equivalent.

In the meantime, Brandon (A Psycho Martyr) might be able to mock something up for you if you have a profile shot of your Vibe. Might help make the decision.

After much deliberation, I think I'm going to stick with my chromies for one more summer. It'll be much easier on my wallet if I just spend a few hundred on some cheap tires (nothing dangerously cheap, though), as opposed to closer to a thousand including wheels. I've got a few more mods in the works though, stay tuned!
