Exhaust Tip Extender photo

Post by tbm34 »

I was looking into the exhaust tip on the gmpartsdirect website but they did not have a picture of the item. Can anyone refer me to a photo, or post an photo of an installed one? Also, do these change the exhaust tone at all, or are they just for show?-thanks

Don't have one, but here's a pic from pontiac.com- Vibe - Accessorize - Additional accessories page. Don't know if it modifies the sound or not. (and welcome to the site!)

Here is a pic of mine. They do not change the sound of the exhaust at all. It is for show. I like the way it looks on mine though. It will due until I get a new cat back exhaust.

I put a towel over the tip and hit it with a hammer. maybe if i get a piece of wood or something, put the towel in b/w the tip and wood?

my '04 was supposed to come with the tip but never got put on since i bought it so fast. I installed it myself took like 5min. just waited for it to cool and then away i went. The instructions say like the end of the extension should be 1" in front of the old exhaust to provide a "blended look" i put mine all the way to where the old met the new.. thought it looked much better.

Put the clamp bolt on the top and tighten it down. You can"t see it there .

I got my exhaust extention today, and I'm considering cutting about 3/4" of the tailpipe off to let it slide back a little more, it seems to me that it sticks out about 3/4~1" too far......anyone else done this, or am I the guinie pig here?
