Where do you guys store your loose change in the car?

Post by chadhgraves »

I usually throw all my loose coins in the top part of the console. It's almost full. Need some ideas. What do you guys do with your coins, or am I the only one with this problem. I saw a coin holder that fits in the cup holders at Wal-Mart but it doesn't hold much at all. Probably should just go to Coinstar, but it's nice to have quarters for the car wash.Update: This is why I asked. I think it's starting to affect my MPGs.

I keep quarters only. And they go in the quarter holders by the e brake and left of the steering wheel. Everything else goes in a vase in the house. If I fill up those holders quarter overflow goes into the square thing under the cupholders. I am a hoarder of quarters. Always like to have them for a quick wash and that's about all they ever get used for.

For some reason when I bought my 2003 it came with a cigarette lighter and that ash tray that looks like a cup - but there was no "smoker's package" on the window sticker. . I kept that "cup" when I sold my 2003. Use that to store my coins.

On my 07 there is a little recess right up by the parking brake lever, just in front of the arm rest It isn't big but it is deep, maybe 1 1/2" by 3" or so and is great for change. I used to keep my iPod in there when I had the Apple wire fed into the console arm rest box, but now I've upgraded to Bluetooth Music streamed wirelessly from our iPhones.Dave

I use the driver's door interior handle for any coins from drive-thru's. Coins acquired inside a store go into a pocket, then into a variety of containers in the house.

I put it in that little compartment to the left of the steering wheel, below the hatch glass release button.

I mainly store my change in the floor board, between the seats, as well as under the seats. I intend on it all going to my pockets, but the change monster has other ideas lol

In the standard holder to the left of the steering column. When Brandon (A Psycho Martyr) was trading his for a blank plate, I jumped on that so now I have double the capacity. Lotsa parking meters in my town.I don't know about the rest of you who use the one under the ebrake, but I can't easily slide coins out of there. It's an awkward angle for me, so I push and roll them toward the dash to get them out. I'm weird like that. But I prefer the plates in the dash. I might have used the pull down cubby underneath like Christopher, but I have my Sirius radio mounted permanently flush with the dash in that space, so it's blocking any further usage.

I usually throw mine in one of the cup holders in the center, although I try not to. If water or other liquid ends up in there by accident, it makes a nasty mess and the coins either stick together or start to corrode if pennies are involved. JR

We usually drop it into the cup-holders in the center console. On Junior's Vibe, the previous owner apparently didn't think twice about where to stash their extra change. When we gutted his interior over Christmas break, we found close to $8.00 in total change Most of this was under the front two seats where you only would find it if you removed the seats (which we did!). Also a lot of it was coated with Coke/Pepsi and other nasty sticky stuff

All over the place, I don't think there is a spot with no change in it.

I store them under my seat too, I always wear basketball shorts and they tend to fall out of my pocket when I drive =/

If I go through a drive thru and get change, I will toss it into one of the cup holders, but as soon as I pull away from the drive thru, I pull off to the side and put the change in my wallet. I hate having anything cluttering up my interior.

I actually bought the smokers package and got a good deal on the kit from the local GM dealer. It came with a good sized black plastic cup with a lid that a smoker would use as an ashtray and a cigarette lighter element. I don't smoke so I stashed the lighter in the glove box(you never know when you might need it) the ashtray fits perfectly in one of the cup holders in the console and the thickness of the thing means the noise of the change is muffled

I have a coin sorter kind of like this:http://www.alibaba.com/product....htmlBut mine has two rows and holds about three dollars total. I bought it at a local auto parts store or a discount store and it was just a few bucks. It fits in the top section of the center console with my pad/pencil for keeping track of gas and auto related purchases.

Look what I came across while searching for coin holders. I might just have to invest in one of these. http://www.amazon.com/Totes-Me...uto_9

do a google image search for "auto coin holder organizer" and there is something like that but that also keeps the coins in separate quarter, dime, nickel and penny slots. Won't hold as much but you can access it a lot better.I use mine when I'm in the drive thru getting something to eat and sometimes if I am heading into a store where I know I'll pay cash. Having exact change is so cool.
