Help PLEASE Do I need to remove the whole rear door to remove the rear hatch/glass/decklid assembly?

Post by jiminyvr »

Help. Do I need to remove the WHOLE rear DOOR to remove the rear hatch/glass/decklid assembly?I want to remove the below assembly pictured with rear hatch glass/decklid from the car, but I'm worried I may have to remove the whole fricken door first. When you "lift" or open the hatch glass the corresponding decklid also lifts up. It is attached to the car via bolts/hinges you can see in the 2nd photo. My concern is whether the hinges have enough room to slide out from the actual rear door (somewhat closely flushed)???

No, you don't have to remove the entire assembly. IT's pretty straight forward just removing the glass. It's held on by the "buttons" you see top and bottom. You of course need to disconnect the cylinders and wiper assembly.Take a good long look at it, it will become obvious what you need to remove. If not, ask, there are 14 steps in the removal process which I really don't want to type out here!Dave
