This is the setup I have. (or had, the stock airbox is back in now!)Basically, it ran flawlessly, and I absolutely loved the sound it made. but... then after about 30 mins of driving I'd get p0171 (too lean).I checked everything for leaks, all my piping had the o-rings in to ensure no leaking possible. Can't find a damn thing wrong. The only thought I have is that that hose that used to be "plugged into" the factory airbox is causing it to think there's a large vaccum leak when there isn't? I put a filter over it because I didn't know what else to do.Can I put a cap over it to solve this issue, or is it unrelated? Possibly, could it be there MAF pipe size for the adapter was 3" instead of 2.5"? Can anyone tell me if this is the cause? (just so I know for sure)
You did fine with that air filter. I did the same with mine. What year is it? 05-08? You may have a bad intake manifold gasket and with adding the SRI it may have sent it over the edge. Take some CARB cleaner and spray around you SRI connections and around the mainfold when it's running to find the leak. If it idles down you found it.

It's a 2005 base. 1zzfe. fwd. When I put the factory intake back on, I get absolutely zero problems. I checked with my scangauge after a week of my stock box being back on and still not even a pending code.Engine idle is healthy, smooth, and very good, but I'll try the carb cleaner trick tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!
Is it unsafe to drive like this? I don't wanna freeze to put this all back in and if it throws the code again. It usually takes 45 mins for CEL. Pending code comes up after 10-30 minutes.
I won't drive it with that code. There's a leak somewhere and it's getting un-metered air into the system

Alright... damn. I just don't wanna do a ton of work taking the factory box back out and putting the intake all back together and getting those o-rings back in place and what not, only to still not be able to use it. And you said you just put a breather filter over that evap hose (that's what it is, right?) and you have no trouble with it? Drive by wire and everything?Wish me luck in either finding the leak or getting it working. I'm going to start working on it in about 3 hours.
That hose is the intake for the PVC system. tI draws air into the engine, through the PCV valve and out to the mainfold. Don't install the SRI yet! First just do the Carb Cleaner test around the intake manifold.

I tried the cleaner thing, and I can find nowhere to spray it that changes my idle. Idle stays perfectly smooth. No codes on stock airbox at all. Ended up re installing SRI (VERY) meticulously. I was incredibly careful in checking anything for a leak, gap, etc. I found nothing. I even sprayed the cleaner around the edges of the sri, in between the connectors, etc. No idle change. It runs and drives fine! It only throws the CEL if you drive it for a really long time, then park it for at least 30 mins, then drive it again. Otherwise, it stays a pending code. I've given up for today and I'm not too worried about dirt getting into throttle for now. I'm going to get back on the search for any possible leaks whatsoever tomorrow afternoon. (car will be driven only as necessary in the meantime) Thanks for your help. I'm totally baffled myself.
