Aftermarket HU dimmer

Ok so ill try to keep it short and sweeti have a kenwood HU. the orange/white wire is labelled "illum" and in the instructions says to hook up to the vehicles dimmer control wire. Now on the metra harness does this hook up to the orange/white or the orange wire?Also its a dvd UNIT as well, you just run the "hook up to parking wire" to a ground correct?
