I've noticed this is getting worse and worse. When I stop and the car is in gear it vibrates; bad enough for my radar detector to bounce around lol. It makes kind of growl too sometimes. Its not a huge issue, just wondering what it could be. When I put it in neutral it stops for the most part.Any other second gens getting this issue? I've got nearly 86,000 miles. My Mustang used to do it and it annoyed the crap out of me; of course the Vibe doesn't do it that bad, yet.
When I saw your post title I wanted to sing! Good, good , good vibrations....eh, I'm dating myself with that song!Suspect a cracked flex plate or loose torque convertor bolts.DaveSent from my iPhone 4s
I had the same issue you are experiencing (I believe). When I was stopped at a red light, the car would "rumble", but if I threw it in neutral, it would be as quiet and smooth as it was brand new. I have the automatic GT, so I decided to change the AT fluid and viola, the "rumble" went away. I am sitting around 90k myself, so this may be a fix for you as well?
Anyway you can check yourself for a the motor mount or whatever? LOL obviously I can't do that much with a car.. just learned how to change a tire I'll be getting the fluid changed at 100K I guess when I get a tune up. The dealer said there was no need in changing it until then. I want to add, when in reverse its REALLY bad. Like, the rumble is VERY loud inside the cabin and I haven't been able to hear anything by rolling down the window because its so loud inside. It also shakes worse. This has happened since I got it with like 26,000 miles on it back in July of '09, so I've never thought anything about it.
Our old minivan went through motor mounts pretty often, at least 3 I know of. We always knew it was gone because it would clunk when you shifted into reverse due to the motor moving when the trans changes gears. It could certainly be a mount. You should be able to see the front one and tell if it is cracked or damaged, but the rear one(s) might be harder to see.

You can test whether or not it's the motor mounts with the help of a friend. With the car in park, engine running, hood up. Stand next to the car looking at the engine while your friend revs it. Also have them shift through the gears with their foot on the brake. You'll notice some torquing or twisting of the engine if any of the mounts are bad.
I have the EXACT same problem. It's most prevailant in he mornings or cold. Sometimes it sounds like a plate underneath, like a differential cover or something, and everytime I swing by the mechanic it's warmed up and stops. They've mentioned the motor mounts as well. Have you figured this out yet?
I ask the dealer. They said the plugs are probably going to need to be replaced soon. Apparently its not a huge issue because they said just to wait, unless it throws a code. If it gets worse or my gas mileage starts going down drastically I'll push the tune up on up early!
hmmm....I'm very meticulous in my maint schedule. I'm at 107,000 miles and have done all the fluid flushes, plugs, ac charge, tires, etc... plugs would involve more of a misfire or something more internal. My rattling is something more external. I don't think mine is a huge issue, I just hate hearing it in the morning backing up and stopping at lights. The ONLY thing I have not done yet is replace my springs. Still original and still good.
Neither of our Vibe GT's have experienced any of this. Of course one of them is a stick Just curious if it ends up being a motor mount, would this be considered part of the "powertran" and be a warranty covered part (5 yr or 100000 miles)?

Mine is not vibrating, it's rattling. I am not the original poster. My mechanic said nothing about plugs, in fact i said i had mine changed...wires and all. I think you confused the posts. You quoted mine, but i never said anything about vibrations. It sounds like my vibe is experiencing the same noises. If his is vibrating so bad then i missed that part, mine rattles. Different things. A muffler can rattle loose, its annoying and should be fixed, but its not a big deal. I agree a vibration is a sign of something more serious. I plan to replace the motor mounts in the spring. Ill let you know if that solves the rattle. My muffler is tight and i checked pans etc...

The radar detector just vibrates roughly enough to vibrate against the windshield and make a noise; which it doesn't do in N or P.
My point is that at should not vibrate. That "not THAT bad" vibration is loosening plastic clips, metal fasteners, relay and wire mounting points, etc inside of your dash and through out the body. Your car won't be falling apart but experience shows that you'll have more annoying squeaks, buzzes and other strange noises sooner if you don't get it diagnosed and fixed. It isn't normal, get it fixed. Newer cars in many ways literally "snap" together, as a result there is play between items, when this play moves in rapid harmony the pieces wear against each other and become loose.Dave
I had one the end of last year. I found an autocross club nearby and ran my first event last fall. Ultra-conservative dad says "You don't know what you
re getting into with all that wear and tear." I say "Psahw! Don't worry about it. No worse than city traffic and highway speed."
I get home after the first event and sure as heck is hot, proving my did is always right, I get a new squeak everytime i rev the engine. A little bit of sherlocking tells me it's the motor mounts. I order some spiffy hard red mount inserts (read about them somewhere on this forum...) get under the car and - get this - the read motor mount is entirely loose. Not broken loose, UNSCREWED loose. The stud and nuts (or studs and nut, I cannot recall) were all loose. I tightened them all up and the noise was gone.
Just something to look for if you find yourself in a sudden new-noise situation.

Any update on this?? I am also getting this vibration when stopped at a light, I drop it in NUETRAL and the vibration is gone. I have 89k and I'm going to do my tranny fluid very soon, if That's the issue. 09 GT
Well, I didn't really realize how long it has been doing this. It finally got really bad. Had a, what I thought was a creak, but was actually a rattle. Ended up being the rear motor mount. The dealer said that it was "out" and the bolt was touching the frame (I assume causing the rattle). All is good and he runs real smooth!
I just picked up 2008 with 48k KM's on it. It has a vibe-ration when stopped at a light, etc. and it goes away if i put it in park / neutral. Hmmmm? I thought it was the built-in full body massage option.
I guess I'll have the dealer take a look when I bring it in for the PCM recall later this week.
